SAINT MARK'S MISSION & OUTREACH
This Saturday: Summer of Storytelling Supper #2
Saturday, July 10 from 5-7 p.m.
You are invited to join us in person at St. Mark's or online, via Zoom, for an evening of sacred storytelling and fellowship. This event is for all ages, and children are most welcome!

The shape of our gathering is as follows:
  • 5:00 p.m. Opening Gathering (Scripture Storytelling)
  • 5:30 p.m. Supper & Personal Storytelling with Table Groups (This month we'll be sharing the story of God giving Moses the Law on Mt. Sinai and sharing our own personal stories of "breaking the rules," getting into trouble, and/or finding our way.)
  • 6:45 p.m. Closing Gathering (Compline)
A simple supper (sandwiches and chips) will be provided. There is no cost for this event, but we welcome your donations to help cover the cost of supper. Please sign up no later than Monday, July 5th here, so that we can order enough sandwiches and make table assignments.

This Sunday: Johann Sebastian Bach
Cantata Vergnügte Ruh beliebte Seelenlust
Johann Sebastian Bach composed this church cantata Vergnügte Ruh beliebte Seelenlust (translation: "Delightful rest, beloved pleasure of the soul") for the sixth Sunday after Trinity. It is a solo cantata first performed in 1726. We are offering the three arias accompanied by a string quartet, flute and organ.

"Death as a release from the chaos of the world and the true communion at last with God. Since we have had so much loss in our country and our world, I find Bach's sentiments prevalent now. Most wonderful is this gorgeous music he has left with us in which to immerse ourselves. The flute and strings evoke a feeling of peace and contentment, and the voice adds a yearning for this peace which one can only find with God."

St. Mark’s is pleased to invite Jude Fournier, a grief counselor and former hospice chaplain, to facilitate a five-week grief support group (in person only) beginning Sunday, July 11th, from 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Jude uses art, journaling and group sharing as a means of working through grief and loss. The cost is $25 per person, with scholarships available if needed. The cost covers all art and journal materials for the five weeks. Participants should plan to attend all sessions as each week will build on the week prior. Please sign up here by Sunday, July 4th. Please contact church administrator, Jennifer Lind (church email), or Jude Fournier (505-228-3574 or via email), if you have any questions.

DIOCESE & BEYOND
Women’s Ministry PICNIC (Partners in Christ/Neighbors in Community)
Women from around the diocese will be gathering in small groups at homes or parish halls to be part of a Zoom Picnic. We are hoping that women from parishes that haven’t been able to participate via Zoom over the past year, can now get together to be part of the broader community of Women in the Diocese of the Rio Grande. This will be happening on July 24 at 10:00 a.m.

Each small group will join the main Women's Ministry Zoom gathering (link will be sent prior to the event).

We’ll enjoy the fellowship across the miles of our diocese, play a game or two, make candle S’mores, and other fun, and talk about how we are really Partners in Christ, Neighbors in Community.

Register by contacting Cindy Davis (via email) or by phone 505-379-7327, by the end of this weekend to receive a "basket" of goodies for the event.
Changes at ABQ FaithWorks
We welcome the consulting expertise of Dennis Plummer, our long-time friend, who is looking at the synergies between our great programs. And we wish Valerie Griego well as she has moved on to other professional pursuits. Steps to replace Valerie will be taken after Dennis's assessment and help.
Email submissions should be sent (via email) to the Communications Specialist by 2:00 p.m. each Thursday for inclusion on Friday e-news. Please see submission guidelines here.
