SAINT MARK'S MISSION & OUTREACH
Important Information Regarding Safe Church
Safe Church Training this Sunday, 9/26 at St. Mark's

We expect all members of St. Mark's to help make St. Mark's a true sanctuary for all people by making a commitment to participate in regular Safe Church/abuse prevention training. This training can be completed in community through participation in annual workshops (in person/on zoom) at St. Mark's, or independently through participation in online modules. Please RSVP here to let us know how you plan to participate.

For everyone
This can be difficult subject matter for everyone, and it can be especially triggering for those who have experienced abuse in their own lives. In addition to the clergy (Fr. Christopher, Deacon David, and Mother Sylvia), there are also a number of lay leaders at St. Mark's with counseling and/or chaplaincy experience who are available to listen, pray, and help process these issues with you. Please do not hesitate to reach out for support. These are issues we not only can, but should talk about in church!

For those of you who plan to participate on Sunday in person:
We will begin our session together in the Nave promptly at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Feel free to grab a cup of coffee and some snacks from the Fish Garden and bring them back with you into the church (just don't spill!). Please be sure to pick up handouts and sign in at the back of the nave so you get "credit" for attending! We have worked hard to "trim the fat" from the online modules to keep this training focused on what is MOST important for every member of our congregation to know! This material is important...and so is your time.

For those of you who plan to participate on Sunday via Zoom:
We will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

For those of you who prefer to complete the online modules independently:

Thanks again for your commitment to making St. Mark's a safe church.

Afghan Refugees
Need Family Liaisons for Afghans! The FaithWorks community sponsorship model that is working for Central Americans is expanding for Afghans. An open heart and only a few hours per week as a Family Liaison, with a support network behind you, can help a foreign family learn what they need to navigate successfully in our culture and city. Pashto or Farsi not required. Contact Jessica Corley today for training email her or call 505 333 8059.

Save the Date! We invite you to spend an evening with Lutheran Family Services (LFS) on Sep 28, 202, at 6:30 p.m., LFS will begin welcoming our Afghan allies to our communities here in New Mexico. We will gather virtually in a Zoom meeting to learn more about how the Diocese of Rio Grande can be of service to our Afghan allies in New Mexico.  Our Bishop has met with the Director to make a connection and now we want the diocese of the Rio Grande to make that connection and see how you can help as a congregation and individuals. For any questions please contact Bridge Chaplain Ana L. Reza (via email here), and this will be the Zoom link for the day.

If you are interested in helping coordinate the involvement of St. Mark's members in meeting these and other refugee needs as they emerge in the coming weeks, please contact Mother Sylvia+ (via email).
