As we wrap up 2024, it’s a good opportunity to reflect on where this past year has taken us:

  • After two years of planning and a successful grant application to FEMA, we completed the overhead to underground power and telecommunication line conversion. Ideally, this will prevent power failures in the future that we faced with every storm.

  • We went through some intense review of our utilities infrastructure and successfully completed our application for low-interest loans from the state to update our water and sewer system. We expect the capital improvements to begin in the next few months and take about three years to complete. These include digging a new well to replace an existing one, lining our water and sewer lines and reinforcing manholes and lift stations throughout the system. Did you know the Village provides water and wastewater to our neighbors at Quail Ridge, Delray Dunes, and a few communities on Military Trail and Woolbright Road?

  • In an ongoing effort to improve security, the Village Council approved funding to replace our camera system with state-of-the art new cameras that will be installed in January.

  • We completed the streetlight replacement program we have been discussing for nearly nine years! While we are still making some tweaks to the lights, they are a noted improvement over the old 25-foot-tall concrete poles.

  • We completed the replacement of the 20-foot-tall hedge on Country Road East, creating a beautiful, landscaped park area and concealing a new two-story housing community to the east of the Village.

  • We welcomed three new Council members, two of whom ran unopposed and will start new terms, along with the Mayor, in March 2025.

  • We began forecasting financial trends and are anticipating continuing to build our reserves while continuing the highest level of security and services to you, our residents.

Thank you for the opportunity to continue to serve as your Village Manager. I look forward to starting my 10th year of service in 2025.

New year, new registration: Important voting reminder

As we welcome the new year, it’s time to ensure you’re ready for the the next elections!

Florida’s voting laws now require you to renew your vote-by-mail ballot request annually. With so many village residents voting by mail, and a Village charter question on the March 2025 ballot, we want to ensure you are aware of the change in the law.

If you haven’t made a request since the November 2024 election, you’ll need to submit a new one to receive your mail-in ballot.

Renewing is simple—just visit the Supervisor of Elections website to make your request.

A dry season reminder about watering

As we approach the peak of dry season, we want to remind you about the rules for watering your grass and landscaping.

The Village of Golf, at the direction of the South Florida Water Management District, has specific rules that govern when landscaping and lawns may be irrigated. The year-round rules apply to every home and business in the Village. They apply to the Country Club of Florida regarding landscaping, but not for the golf course.

While there are exceptions, generally the rules for when you may irrigate your landscaping are as follows:

  • No irrigation is allowed between 10:00am and 4:00pm.

  • Even numbered addresses may only irrigate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and/or Sundays.

  • Odd numbered addresses may only irrigate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Saturdays.

You will notice that there is no irrigation allowed on Fridays.

All new irrigation systems are required to have sensors that prevent watering when there is already sufficient moisture.

January Village Hall hours

Village Hall will be closed on Monday, January 20th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

There is also no mail delivery on January 20th.

Taking care of lighting on a case-by-case basis

We are continuing to work with FPL to address any issues created by the installation of their new street lights.

As each case is brought to our attention, we are coordinating with FPL to either redirect the light, install shielding, or remove the light entirely.

Please call Village Hall if you have any questions or concerns.

It may be time

How long has it been since you had your roof or driveway cleaned?

It is your responsibility to ensure they remain in good condition. If they need to be cleaned, please make proper arrangements.
