You are invited to join California Heights United Methodist Church (3759 Orange Avenue, Long Beach, CA) on Sunday, September 22 at 10:00 AM for worship.

Our lead pastor (Scott Andrews) will preach from Mark 9:30-37 with a sermon titled "Servant of All."

Our anthem for the morning will be "Kyrie" shared with us by the Chancel Choir.

ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS MARKET

Our Alternative Christmas Market crew has set Saturday, November 2 as the date for this year's market. They are working hard to make this year's market great.

Their next meeting is set for Thursday, September 19 @ 11:00 AM in the Bride's Room. Follow up meetings will be announced.

CHURCH RUMMAGE SALE

Judy and Melody, as co-chairpersons of the Rummage Sale, would like to send out a heart-felt thank you to all who donated, and all who volunteered their time and energy to this year's Rummage Sale. Without all of you, this would not have been possible. 

A special thanks goes out to Linda Benson, Kathy Kaonohi, Cameron Wilkinson, and Ferman Alicea for all of their help! The Rummage Sale proceeds were $8,200.00.

LECTIONARY BIBLE STUDY

The Lectionary Bible Study will resume on Monday, October 21 at 10:00 AM & 7:00 PM in the Church Parlor. We will study each of the four scriptures that are assigned to each Sunday of the Christian calendar. Each set of scriptures can be found in the GPS on the back of the Sunday bulletin. 

The study will continue until November 20.

KNITTER’S GROUP

Our knitter's group has returned! They gather from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday evenings in the Bride's Room. All skill levels and all questions are welcome.

It’s that time of year! Nope, it’s not Christmas yet … It’s PUMPKIN SPICE season! Wear your shade of orange or pumpkin and let’s do that! Small groups for adults, youth and children follow dinner. Please sign up so we can best plan for all of the small groups and meals, too.  

Servant SATURDAY: Coastal Cleanup Day!

Sponsored by the California Coastal Commission, we will join 1,000 of others along the CA shoreline as we collect trash and debris that pollutes our coast.  It will be the 40th Anniversary of this massive beach clean up!  We will have short prayer and communion, too.  Please wear a hat and bring sunscreen, and a water bottle.  Also, bring trash grabbers and garbage bags, and prepare to get a little dirty and wet!

We are returning to Lazy W Ranch for a weekend of all ages and for the ages! Campfires & music; s’mores; archery; crafts and swimming and maybe a nap too - all are options at camp!

PLEASE NOTE . . .

Due to the uncertainty of the “Airport” wildfire, we are able to offer a day-only rate to join us at Church Camp 2024 on Saturday, Oct. 5. 

We will have archery; swimming; devotional time; two meals together in the big hall … and depending how late you stay … the talent show and s’mores, too! 

We have been so excited to learn about the wildfires’ containment and lifting of the evacuation orders around the Lazy W Ranch property. Thank you for everyone's prayers!

CROP WALK: WALK TO END HUNGER

All across Long Beach, we are joining together to raise money to fight hunger - globally and locally.  Join us to walk the 5K on the afternoon of Oct. 20, or sponsoring a walker!  It is a fun way to be the church and make a real difference. 

Also, please bring non-perishable food items on walk day to support the Broken Loaf Food Pantry at Lakewood 1st UMC.
