New This Week:
Message from the Rector
By The Rev. Dr. Vincent Joseph Kopp

Dear Good People of St. Stephen’s,

This Sunday, July 31, 2022, we will worship jointly with St. Cyprian’s for the first time in years. The character of our two parishes differ in many respects but we are united in one Faith, one Baptism, and one Lord of all in one Church.

Please plan to join this special service and partake of the fellowship and food that will follow in the St. Stephen’s Parish Hall after the 10:30 AM Holy Eucharist, Rite II in the Sanctuary. Please bring your favorite dessert and/or a side dish to share with others as we reaffirm our connections as children of God.

3. For the Human Family (BCP p. 815)

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

In Christ,
Vincent+

Joint Service & Meal with St. Cyprian's
July 31st at 10:30AM

Please join us for a special worship service and meal with St. Cyprian’s this Sunday, July 31st at 10:30 AM. There's been a slight change in the menu, instead of providing turkey breast, St. Stephen's will provide the fried chicken; St. Cyprian's the mac and cheese. ACIM Needs Your Help

ACIM receives generous support from St. Stephen’s. In recent months delivery of meat from WalMart to ACIM to customers has been interrupted. Freezers and the refrigerator truck have gone unused. If you are interested in advocating to correct this situation, please contact Marcia Byrd. She can provide information about ways to help ACIM in a new way.
Volunteers

Want to serve at St. Stephen’s in new and creative ways? Going forward we need volunteers to serve in the following ways:

  • Acolytes
  • Altar Guild
  • Bell Ringers
  • Greeters
  • Lay Ministers (certification required)
  • Photographers
  • Prayer Chain
  • Readers of Lessons and Prayers of the People
  • The Bicentennial Planning Committee
  • The Creation Care Committee
  • The Strategic Planning Committee

Please give prayerful consideration of where your highest and greatest gifts meet St. Stephen’s greatest needs.
Godly Play Training

St. Stephen’s is in dialogue with St. John’s, Wake Forest, about Godly Play volunteer refresher training. Our plan is to have Godly Play back in full swing by mid-September. If you are interested in Godly Play Core Training, a class will be offered at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Goldsboro, NC, August 12-14.
