Message from the President & CEO
Welcome.

If you are reading this newsletter, chances are you also follow us on Twitter or LinkedIn. Maybe you have read the Canadian Chamber of Commerce press release, the Stoney Creek Chamber newsletter, or the Hamilton Community News

The point I am trying to make is that you may already be aware that Mohawk College Enterprise was recently awarded a Small Business Resiliency Grant provided by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Salesforce .  I thought it only fair, to explain to the chambers, our customers and other readers, what we intend to use it for.

We’ve gone virtual! Some of you have already experienced our webinars and full-day training sessions delivered “ The MCE Way ” – same great content and facilitators, new method of delivery . Now, with the generosity of the Chamber and Salesforce, we are going to take it one step further. We want to give back. We want to create complimentary learning tools for you and we are going to do it in the form of Micro-eLearning.

So what is Micro-eLearning?

Micro-eLearning is a training model that breaks down online learning into smaller chunks, accessible to the learner anytime based on their needs. Micro-eLearning deals with relatively small learning units, sometimes only 5 minutes of content. How, you might ask, can anyone learn anything in 5 minutes?

One way is through repetition. We will use YouTube as our micro-eLearning platform, allowing our learners the opportunity to go back and access the video whenever they need to recall content. The learner will be able to do this from their desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone – anywhere they can access YouTube.  We will offer a series of small learning units on one topic, providing learning by “building” on the previous unit and concept.

Micro-eLearning is a relatively new technique and as such, there is no real definition of it yet. We hope you will join us on this journey and help us define the “MCE Way” of micro-eLearning! Stay tuned for our launch in early September!

MCE Instructional Designer, Aisha Zafar, recently participated in a webinar on Understanding Your Role in Conscious Bias , hosted by Ellevate Toronto.

This session was intended to have participants walk away with a better understanding of unconscious biases and learn the actions people can take in their organization and as an individual to move us forward.

"We need to challenge the notion of US versus THEM. We have to be open to learn and unlearn to create new realities that are based on empathy and care for all.", remarked Aisha.

MCE will be rolling out training on Understanding Unconscious Bias this fall!
Time time for yourself.

The 3rd installment of our Virtual Summer Series, Time Management Mastery , provides a great time for participants to assess their personal deficiencies and learn how to stop procrastination and other time wasters

Consider a timely break in your work schedule to fit in some quick, interactive training on a topic forever relevant to changing times.

You can view more or register on our Virtual Summer Series page HERE .
Virtual Learning for the Future:
Future Ready Leadership Series
Our popular Future Ready Leadership Series (FRL ) has been in continuous development and improvement since it's launch many years ago. Since then, we've come face-to-face with hundreds of participants eager to improve their leadership skills. We've witnessed many successful projects, promotions, and positive feedback, from our training methodology.

FRL is offered as an Essentials, Level 1, and Level 2, formats. Organizations can register a full cohort or invite select individuals to an 'Open Seat', where identified leaders from across varying sectors learn and share together.

All levels of FRL are available virtually this Fall and into early 2021 . We encourage you to reach out to your area Business Development Officer for personalized answers to any questions you have on virtual leadership training. Each BDO has examples of our virtual training, our philosophy, and testimonials on how training 'The MCE Way' transitions effectively to a virtual format.
