Message from Superintendent Deborah Houser:

Harnessing the Power of Love to Build a Stronger School Community.

As we navigate the complexities of the educational landscape, it's crucial to recognize the transformative power of love within our school community. Love isn't merely a sentiment; it's an actionable force that fosters empathy, understanding, and unity.

When we approach our interactions with love—whether it's with our colleagues, students, or community members—we create an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Love enables us to see beyond differences and challenges, fostering a culture of inclusivity and belonging where each individual feels respected and accepted for who they are.

By embracing the power of love in our daily interactions and decision-making processes, we not only enhance the educational experience for our students but also strengthen the fabric of our entire community.

Let's commit ourselves to cultivating a culture of compassion, kindness, and empathy within our schools, where love serves as the guiding principle in everything we do. Together, we can create a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and loved, laying the foundation for a brighter, more inclusive future for generations to come.

District Calendar

#MiddieMinutesMatter is our new attendance campaign aimed at tackling chronic absenteeism among students and promoting a culture of regular attendance.

Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of the school year, no matter what the reason is for the absence. Missing 10% or more school hours has been identified as a significant challenge affecting student success and overall academic achievement.

Our comprehensive initiative involves a tiered approach beginning with understanding the root cause of absence issues. We are also engaging support systems at the building and district level, as well as partnering with community agencies to help raise awareness.

To help celebrate attendance, every homeroom classroom across the district has been given a "MIDDIES" poster. When the entire class is present, students will color in a letter of MIDDIES. Once a class completes the word, they will receive a donut party.

Personalized Learning Days Continue to Grow!

During our Personalized Learning Day on February 20, we had the highest number of participants to date at the Middletown Arts Center, Middie Meal Machine, and City building. Nearly 150 students signed up to view their artwork on display, engage in a clay art project, get free lunch, and participate in a scavenger hunt throughout the City building.

Thanks to the collaborative effort of our Passport to Tomorrow staff and the City Manager, the scavenger hunt provided students with real-world experiences. Students traveled from floor to floor, earning stamps in their "passport," by learning how police officers use fingerprinting technology, how to pay a water bill, how to fill out a job application, and how building floorplans and permits work.

Perhaps the most valuable experience for the entire community was how the Parks Department allowed students and their families to provide feedback and ideas on how to improve individual parks within our community.

Thank you to Miami University, Cintas, AMS Parts, Crane Consumables, Precision Strip, Phillips Tube, Midpointe Library, and Middletown Flight Training for also opening their doors to our students. Thank you also to Butler Tech, Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum, Ohio Living, Magellan, and Atrium Medical Center for opening their doors to our Middle School staff.
