The first good news.. is that we managed to find a new home for Cuddles.. the American Curl cat! She's now happily settled with her new family!
Second good news is that we managed to find buyers for 3 of the 5 cars advertised last time! And a surprising amount of the furniture and other Not-So-Secret-Sales items too!
The third good news is that our last newsletter was officially our most opened ever... thank you for your wonderful support.. and your nice messages!

We are delighted to welcome back KL-based author Andrew Barber for the launch of his new novel Fortress Penang.
"Fortress Penang" was the designation given to the island by British military planners prior to the Second World War. It was to prove deeply ironic, as the story of the disastrous British withdrawal and the subsequent Japanese occupation were to prove.

The war years were, nonetheless, a pivotal moment in Penang’s colonial history and a stepping stone in Malaya’s road to independence.
This talk is the story of those years and it also sets the scene for Andrew's novel which will be sent as an e-book to those who register for the talk.
Set in pre-war and war-time Penang, it tracks the challenges and struggles of Tom Baxter, a British MI6 officer, who is faced with a host of personal and professional challenges as the British strategic and military position crumbles in front of him.

He recently made contact again and shared these photos. Made of mengkuang leaves, a kind of swampy plant also known as screwpine, each mat takes up to a month to weave - and the motifs all have their own meanings too.
