When I began my District Governor visits, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But let me tell you — WHOOAAA!!! The clubs are vibrant, growing, and full of energy. Every stop I’ve made, I’ve seen visitors eager to learn more about Rotary and people ready to get involved.
A highlight was holding a District Governor Banner ceremony with my original club, North Jacksonville, and my home club, Northwest Jacksonville. It was an honor to restart this tradition that COVID interrupted , the banner will now be passed from club to club, marking the home of the D6970 District Governor. I also was at the RC of Palatka Sunrise to witness long-time member, Marshall Fulghum, receive the “Al Watson” Quiet Hero award. Congrats and well-deserved Marshall.
As summer winds down, school is back in session, football season is kicking off, and yes, we’ve already had our first named hurricane. There’s a lot happening around us, but through it all, let’s keep looking for opportunities to serve.
President David Tarkington (RC of Orange Park) once wrote:
👉 “Remember our heritage, do good today, and grow for the future.” With his permission, I share these three guiding principles during my visits.
We are the greatest membership and service organization in the world. Never forget who we are.
WE ARE ROTARY!
Have a great Rotary week, friends! 💙🌀
