Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
Let’s talk about something real for a moment. For many of us, water is just… there. Turn the handle, fill a bottle, make coffee, wash your hands, and move on with the day. But the reality for billions of people is very different.
According to recent global reports, about 1 in 4 people worldwide, roughly 2.1 billion people, still don’t have reliable access to safe drinking water. Even more alarming, 3.4 billion people lack safely managed sanitation, and 1.7 billion don’t have basic hygiene services at home.
Think about that for a moment.
For millions of families, a typical morning includes walking long distances to collect water. Kids sometimes miss school to help carry containers home. In some communities, people must choose whether the water they have will be used for drinking, cooking, or washing.
This month isn’t just about statistics; it’s about awareness and action. Rotarians around the world, and many clubs in our own district, continue stepping up with practical solutions, partnerships, and sustainable projects that improve lives and strengthen communities.
So, here’s the challenge for March: start a conversation, support a project, learn something new about global water access, or share Rotary’s work with someone who hasn’t heard the story yet.
Because when we take action together, real change happens.
Let’s keep serving, keep leading, and continue to Unite for Good.
