❄️🤧 Cold and Flu: Doesn’t Have to Happen to You! 🤧❄️

Hello District 6970,

December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month, a perfect time to focus on staying healthy as cold and flu season ramps up. While Rotary tackles global health challenges, we can all take simple steps to protect ourselves and our communities. 💙🌍

✨ Wash your hands regularly

😷 Cover your coughs and sneezes

💧 Stay hydrated

🛌 Prioritize rest

💉 Keep vaccinations up to date

These easy habits go a long way in reducing the spread of seasonal illnesses, especially as we gather for holiday celebrations and Rotary events.

Rotary’s legacy in disease prevention is powerful. From medical missions to clean water initiatives to our monumental effort to end polio, which has saved millions of lives, we continue to change the world through compassion and action. 🌟

This month, let’s lead by example, support those who need care, and stay committed to building healthier communities. Stay well, stay active, Unite for Good, and keep shining as People of Action! 💪💛

It is with great pleasure that I announce that Eric Sherman, from the Rotary Club of Riverside (Jacksonville), has been selected to serve as the District Governor for Rotary International District 6970 for 2028–2029.

Eric has an outstanding and distinguished record of service in Rotary. He served as a member of the Rotary Club of West Jacksonville from 2010 to 2021, where he devoted his energy to youth programs, the Service Avenue, and the Rotary Foundation. In 2021, he joined the Rotary Club of Riverside, where he has since served in numerous leadership roles, including Club President. Most recently, Eric was selected to serve as Assistant Governor Membership for Area 6.

On behalf of Rotary District 6970, I commend the members of the Nominating Committee for their service and extend my warmest congratulations to Eric Sherman on his selection.

Rotary Youth Exchange Student Spotlight: Jaydin

This month’s Rotary Youth Exchange spotlight is Jaydin, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Deland.

Jaydin is in exchange in Sweden; his host club is the Rotary Club in Höör. In Jaydin’s latest journal entry, he writes about hard it is to, “articulate the depth of emotion that exchange has brought.. Honestly, it’d be easier to paint. There’s so much beauty that lies in the simplest moments…”
