I went on a quick trip to Toronto, Ontario to visit my mother-in-law for her birthday. We also stopped by my uncle’s house for dinner. Around the corner from his house, I saw the street sign in the picture next to this article. As soon as my wife and I saw the sign she said, “I know you want to take a picture.” We pulled over, we jumped out and took the picture. I was standing at the corner of Rotary Dr. and Generation Blvd. Wow, what a fitting moment.
As Rotarians, we ride down Rotary Drive every day. Serving each other, our communities and across the globe. We are also frequently on Generation Boulevard. Generation is a two-way street. Whether we are working to create new clubs or to create connections across Rotary generations. This is possibly the first time in recorded history where five generations have the ability to serve in the same organization.
With Thanksgiving being at the end of the week, please keep in mind to be cognizant of your mental health, also friends and family around you. Unfortunately, the holidays can bring additional stress and fatigue. Make the important thing, the important thing. In other words, the small details will work themselves out. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Enjoy your time with loved ones, because when it really comes down to it the most important thing won’t be the food or presents, it will be the memories that you will share from being together.
Scam alert !!!
Some emails are circulating with my name on them, asking Rotarians for money. As your District Governor, I will never ask anyone for money or information about your club and its members. Please be vigilant; these phishing scams are more prevalent during the holiday season.
Let’s continue serving with heart, purpose, and Unite for Good. Come and meet me at the corner of Rotary Dr. and Generation Blvd. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!!!
Have a great Rotary week, friends!
