Hello Rotarians,
As we conclude our month focused on Basic Education and Literacy, I want to share some exciting news: our District’s Rotaract, Interact, and EarlyAct programs are thriving!
At our recent Interact Summit, student leaders representing 13 schools came together with tremendous enthusiasm and a genuine desire to learn more about Rotary. More than 70 individuals gathered at Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, Florida, to support and empower our youth. Just as impressive was the students’ interest in having experienced Rotarians serve as mentors and guides as they continue their leadership and service journeys.
That brings me back to an important question: Have you considered becoming a mentor to an EarlyAct, Interact, or Rotaract student? Few opportunities offer a greater chance to make a lasting difference and to learn from the next generation of leaders.
We are also seeing growing interest in community based Rotaract clubs that welcome local college students whose schools do not have a Rotaract club. This provides students, particularly those earning associate degrees and remaining in our communities, with an opportunity to serve, develop leadership skills, build relationships, and stay connected to Rotary as they begin their careers.
I want to thank all who have unselfishly supported our schools and students through back to school drives, school cleanups, refurbishment projects, and countless other acts of service. Your commitment to “Service Above Self” is making a difference.
Finally, I cannot thank you enough for all you do for your Club, Community, Rotary, and for investing in the leaders of tomorrow!
Yours in Rotary Service,
Bo Norton District Governor
