Rotary District 6970

Hello Rotarians,

This month, Rotary focuses on Community Economic Development, helping communities build the capacity, opportunities, and resources needed to create a more sustainable future.

Whether working locally or internationally, Rotary projects can support entrepreneurs, strengthen local economies, and reduce poverty through sustainable, community led solutions. When done well, these projects go beyond addressing an immediate need. They help communities build an economic foundation that can benefit generations to come.

But your club doesn’t have to do it alone.

The Rotary Action Group for Community Economic Development (RAGCED) connects clubs with volunteer experts who can provide valuable guidance in planning and implementing successful economic development projects. It’s an outstanding Rotary resource that many clubs may not realize is available.

Before your club begins a Community Economic Development project, take advantage of this resource. Visit RAGCED to learn how they can help turn your club’s ideas into lasting impact.

You can also visit Rotary’s Service Project Center through your My Rotary account at www.rotary.org or explore recent issues of Rotary magazine for examples of Community Economic Development projects making a difference around the world.

Thank you again for all you do for your club, community, and Rotary, and for investing in the communities of tomorrow.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Bo Norton
District Governor

First Round of EPIC Award Submissions Close October 31!

Let’s make our district shine! Have your Public Image Chair, or appoint a club officer, to submit on behalf of your club.

EPIC stands for Excellence in Public Image Coordination. It’s a great way to stay organized while getting the word out about the amazing things your club is doing in your community and beyond.

Important: Clubs that do not participate in the first round will not be eligible for the Platinum Award, so be sure to get your submissions in by October 31!

District Governor Accepts 2026 Community Impact Award

Our District Governor, Bo Norton, was honored to accept the 2026 Community Impact Award from Mobility Worldwide at its Annual Conference on behalf of his home club, the Rotary Club of Orange Park!

This year is especially meaningful as Mobility Worldwide celebrates the 25th anniversary of its Florida affiliate, PET Florida, located in the heart of Penney Retirement Community in Penney Farms, Florida.

For 25 years, dedicated volunteers have built mobility carts that are shipped around the world, helping provide mobility, independence, and dignity to individuals in need.

PET Florida’s powder-coating facility was made possible in part through a Rotary District 6970 grant during the 2023–2024 Rotary year, with contributions from all Area 3 Rotary clubs and the Interact Club of Green Cove Springs Junior High School.

Members of the Rotary Club of Orange Park regularly volunteer at the shop, providing hands-on support that PET Florida volunteers have noted is extremely helpful.

Congratulations to Mobility Worldwide, PET Florida, and the Rotary Club of Orange Park on this recognition of community impact!

Rotary clubs interested in volunteering with PET Florida, visit petflorida.org to get involved!

Pets on a Mission to End Polio

The Rotary PolioPlus Society Kennel Klub is a worldwide community of Rotarians, animal lovers, and beloved pets united behind one important mission: helping Rotary end polio forever.

Kennel Klub members make an annual donation to Rotary’s PolioPlus Fund in honor or memory of a pet. Through their membership, photos, and stories, these animals become ambassadors for polio eradication—raising awareness and inspiring others to support the cause.

Although dogs inspired the Kennel Klub name, animals of every kind are welcome.
