Governor Nominations for 2027 – 2028
One of the keys to success for all levels of Rotary – club, district, zone, and international – is the intentional and intelligent succession planning with which we select, train, and support our future leaders. Doing so provides stability and allows for engaged planning of future events and initiatives. Most importantly, it is critical to the continued growth and productivity of Rotary.
Nominations are now being accepted for the member who will lead us as District Governor in the 2027-2028 Rotary year, and every member of our district has a ubique opportunity to play a part in the process. Take a moment to think of individuals who have served their clubs and communities with distinction and encourage them to consider expanding their service and sharing their passion and commitment with the district.
Our District Nominating Committee is currently seeking out the best available candidates for District Governor-Nominee. Clubs of the district are encouraged to submit names of candidates using the online nomination form found on the Rotary District 6970 website Nominating A District Governor. Nominations must be submitted by October 24, 2024 for consideration. The committee, comprised of members representing a cross-section of the district by club size and geographic location, will interview qualified candidates in November, and their selection will be announced to all clubs as prescribed by the District Policies & Procedures.
The qualifications for District Governor are defined in the Rotary Manual of Procedure. In general, candidates must:
- Be a member in good standing of a functioning club in the district,
- Have served as a club president for a full term,
- Demonstrate knowledge of the qualifications, duties, and responsibilities of governor as prescribed in the district bylaws; and
- Demonstrate willingness, commitment, and ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a governor.
Being selected as District Governor is a significant honor and privilege as well as a unique opportunity for service.
For questions regarding the qualifications, nominating procedure, or personal commitments, please contact committee chair PDG Rich Cooper at coop.rotary6970@gmail.com or any current member of the District Governor Corps or Past District Governor.
