March is Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Month, and We Celebrate World Rotaract Week
This month, Rotary’s focus turns to two themes:
March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month, and celebrating World Rotaract Week March 10-16th.
Clean water, basic sanitation, and proper hygiene are fundamental human rights, yet a staggering 2.2 billion people still lack access to safe drinking water. That’s why Rotary is on the ground around the world making a difference through global grant-supported projects funded by your contributions to The Rotary Foundation. One shining example is the Haiti National Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Initiative, known as HANWASH, where Foundation grants are paving the way for healthier communities and brighter futures, and doing so in a sustainable manner.
So, when your Rotary club is thinking about your next water project, don’t forget about Rotaract as an active partner. 57 years ago, the first Rotaract club was certified by Rotary at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Since then, Rotaract has grown from a “youth” program into a vibrant part of the Family of Rotary. Rotaract is active, engaged and growing in our district. And most importantly, our Rotaract Clubs are having a positive impact in their communities.
Yet many Rotary members still do not know that, as of 2022, Rotaract club activities can be included in district grants, and they are eligible for global grants, expanding avenues for collaboration. These young members represent the future of Rotary, and I encourage you and your clubs to seek them out for ideas, assistance with your projects, and for participation in
