Set Your Goals For A Club Excellence Award!

As I’ve traveled the district visiting clubs, one question I’ve often heard is “What’s up with the Rotary Citation for 2024-25?” To clarify, and make sure every club can work toward their own recognition of excellence, we are repeating this earlier article.

The Club Excellence Award is the new name for the Rotary Citation. The award recognizes the hard work Rotary, Rotaract, and Interact clubs do to achieve goals aligned with Rotary’s action plan. Established in 1992, the award has undergone some changes over the years to remain relevant and to continue to align with Rotary’s strategic objectives.

Your club can earn a Club Excellence award for achieving goals that strengthen Rotary and your club . . . including engaging members in sustainable service projects, building awareness of Rotary in your community, increasing club membership, giving to The Rotary Foundation, and having an up-to-date strategic plan.

Club leaders can go into Rotary Club Central and select the goals they wish to apply toward the club’s excellence achievement. This flexibility allows each club to choose the goals that are most relevant and achievable for them. Clubs work on their goals throughout the year and report their achievements by June 30th to be eligible for the award.

Find more information on the Club Excellence awards on My Rotary > Awards & Participation, and check out your club details on My Rotary > Rotary Club Central.

Nomination for District Governor 2027-2028 - Rotary International District 6970

Nominations are now being accepted for the District Governor who will serve in the 2027-2028 Rotary year. Please encourage individuals who have served their clubs and communities with distinction to consider expanding their service and sharing their passion and commitment with the District.

Rotary Youth Exchange applications are now being accepted for the school year 2025-2026.

Current high school students are invited to apply to be an Outbound Student with the Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) for the 2025-26 academic year. For 50 years, the RYE has been building peace worldwide, one young person at a time. Participants learn a new language, discover another culture, make life-long friends, and truly become global citizens. Long-term exchanges last a full academic year; students attend local schools and live with multiple host families. Interested students can learn more at https://www.rye6970.org/study-abroad/. Applications are due November 1, 2024. Prospective participants and parents must attend an informational meeting either in person or via Zoom.

Questions can be directed to Inez Grbowski or Dan Rodkin, Outbound Co-chairs for District 6970, at inez@rye6970.org and dan@rye6970.org.
