Rotary International’s focus for this month is Maternal and Child Health. The health and well-being of families and children in particular is vital to achieving our vision of peace and security for all people in this world.
Rotary is working to expand access to quality care, so mothers and children everywhere can have the same opportunities for a healthy future. An estimated 5.9 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, inadequate health care, and poor sanitation — all of which can be prevented.
As a result of this emphasis, The Rotary Foundation recently announced the award of the most recent Program of Scale Grant, $2 million to prevent cervical cancer in Egypt.
