The Rotary Learning Center

A valuable resource exists for all types of Rotarians, new and veteran alike. It is The Learning Center at Rotary.org. Whether you are preparing for a leadership role at your club or district level, or simply want to understand more about the organization, this online, self-guided course structure is a great information source.

I'm a particular fan of in-person learning and collaboration. Many of you have heard me speak about the value of RLI, District Conference, and the International Convention. These are special, high impact experiences. But as a practical matter, we often need the flexibility to learn at our own pace and in a more convenient manner.

The Learning Center has specific tracks for leadership. If you are an incoming President, Club officer or Assistant Governor this should be your foundational starting point.

In addition, there are course offerings in Membership, Public Image, Community Service and The Rotary Foundation.

This is also a great place to get a sense for the background and training required to serve as a District Training Facilitator, District officer, and yes, even District Governor.

It is also a great place to start if you just want to understand more about the history and guiding principles of Rotary.

There are 5 courses on Rotary's Action Plan that are a must for all Rotarians. Of course, you must have a MyRotary login to access.

I would encourage you to check it out. I guarantee there is something that will enhance your experience as a Rotarian.

Have a great Rotary week!

RC Riverside Presents -

The 10th Annual Riverside Craft Beer Festival

Sunday, Feb. 25

The Tenth Annual Riverside Craft Beer Festival, proudly presented by the Neviaser Charitable Foundation and hosted by the Riverside Rotary Foundation, will bring the community together under the Fuller-Warren Bridge at Riverside Arts Market 15 Riverside Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204 on Sunday, February 25, 2024.

This annual celebration of craft beer culture is not just an indulgence for beer enthusiasts but also a testament to community impact, with proceeds benefiting Community PedsCare and many other Rotary Foundation local Charities.

Savor unlimited tastings of diverse craft beers, from crisp lagers to bold IPAs, accompanied by pairings from local food trucks. The festival extends beyond the beer taps, offering a day filled with live music, entertainment, and community camaraderie.

Northeast Florida’s craft beer scene becomes a vibrant canvas for forging connections and celebrating the spirit of the city, all while contributing to the essential work of local nonprofits.

Purchase admission before February 18 for a discount! VIP admission offers exclusive perks and access. Join us at the Riverside Craft Beer Festival 2024, where every pour tells a story; every sip is a celebration of craft, culture, and community impact.

We would love to have participation from all of our local Rotary clubs! Please let us know if you want us to come speak to your club so we can share our mission for our community!

Application for 2025 Programs of Scale Award

February 23 marks the beginning of the next application round for Program of Scale awards.

The $2 million Programs of Scale grant may be awarded to one member-led, evidence-based program that is ready to scale up over three to five years to increase its impact in one or more of Rotary’s areas of focus.

In the first step of the 2025 Programs of Scale competitive grant process, The Rotary Foundation will accept concept notes summarizing scalable programs. Applicants should be qualified Rotary and Rotaract clubs and districts that have long-term plans to partner with other organizations to significantly expand service projects that have demonstrated successful results.

Maralee Walsh-McDaniel

Assistant Governor - Membership, Area 2

RC Flagler County

Past President

Rotarian 16 Years

Became a Rotarian in 2008 after moving to Palm Coast, Florida from Yonkers, New York where I had lived for most of my life.  My career in New York never allowed me the opportunity to become a Rotarian and follow in my father’s footsteps, he was Rotarian in Yonkers for many years and president of his club and a Paul Harris Fellow.

I have served in several positions in the Rotary Club of Flagler County, member of the board of directors for several terms, chair of the scholarship committee, member of the charitable giving and membership committee, secretary and president from 2019-2020, I am also a Paul Harris Fellow.  In 2022 I began my term as Assistant Governor for the District, Area 2.

Earned my Masters in Social Work and PhD in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University in New York. I worked for over 25 years at Westchester Medical Center as a clinical social worker and retired as Vice President for Behavioral Health.

After moving to Florida I worked for the University of Central Florida as a professor and director of the Social Work program at their Daytona Campus until the satellite program was phased out and converted to an online program.

I continue to be involved in Rotary both on the club and district level and am looking forward to continuing to be an active Rotarian.
