DC | Graphic Design | The Neighborhood Project
Victory Dance Creative offers the neighborhood project, an ongoing series created to show off and commemorate Washington, DC, outside of the typical views of the Capitol Building and monuments.   Each print uses an actual view from each neighborhood showing a building, landmark, or street view that is memorable or characteristic of the neighborhood.
Fashion + Architecture | Hermès Supports Philip Johnson's Glass House
French fashion house Hermès just released their newest, limited-edition silk scarf.  Unusually, it is more inspired by art and architecture than it is by fashion.   Named "Centered Rhyme," the design on the square scarf is by the late American artist Elaine Lustig Cohen, and it is based on one of Lustig
Cohen's large-scale paintings of the same name.
Her partnership with Hermès began in 2015, at an exhibition of her early paintings and graphic design held at Philip Johnson's Glass House.  (The architect was her first client).  Following the exhibition, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, artistic director of Hermès, met Lustig Cohen at her Manhattan home and the pair created the scarf based on her painting.   The colors--crème, jaune, and rose--are true to Lustig Cohen's original piece.   A portion of proceeds from the scarf's sale (it retails for $395) will go towards the preservation of the famed modernist house.  (LLNYC )

Washington Market Summary for April 2017

( RBI )
New York City
Manhattan Residential Sales Market Report April 2017
Manhattan contracts signed have fallen overall since the beginning of the year, and April saw that trend continue, as contracts were down 14%.  A series of holidays and school breaks on consecutive weeks during the month may have caused this decline.  Average price and average price per square foot were up in both the co-op and condo markets.  However, listings spent more time on the market across both categories, continuing a trend that has persisted throughout the last year.  Nevertheless, negotiability decreased marketwide as fewer sales closed below ask.  Inventory grew in the condo market, but fell for co-ops .   ( Citi Habitats )

Brooklyn Residential Sales Market Report April 2017
During April, the Brooklyn market experienced a 15% increase in overall contract activity versus last year.  Median and average sale price both experienced a drop year-over-year, by 6% and 1%, respectively, due to fewer sales above $1 million.  The average price per square foot fell 3% year-over year to $871 per square foot as all bedroom types-except for studios-experienced price drops versus last year.  The average sale price was 0.1% over the average asking price, a slight shift from a year ago when there was an average discount of -0.2%.  The days on market figure of 50, while up year-over-year, still indicates a tight market in Brooklyn.   ( Citi Habitats )

Manhattan and Brooklyn Residential Rental Market Report April 2017
