Volume 06 I June 28, 2020
The Mission Farm Weekly Graze
Weekly thoughts and happenings at Mission Farm and your weekly ZOOM link to Sunday Morning Prayer! (Full invitation is at the end of this document)

Dear Friends:

We hiked the trails at Mission Farm this week. We would walk until we were sure we were lost in the thick forest and then we would see a sign or a familiar rock. As we followed the trail, we would turn a corner and be greeted by a clearing full of soft grass and wildflowers or another stream of water flowing through the ferns and wild blueberries. If you have not had a chance to hike these trails , they are magical. The trails at Mission Farm are open to all.

I had the opportunity this week to visit with Mike from KPAA and chat with Max from the Killington Farmers Market . It is fun learn the deep connections between the Killington community and Mission Farm. It is my hope that we can build on these relationships and contribute to collaboration and vision for our community.

My conversations this week made one thing clear. We are tired. Our individual and communal grief is palpable and evident in your voices and on your faces. The load we are all carrying right now is heavy. The pain of this world is heavy. The novelty of staying home is wearing off and we are all presented with change and a need to absorb and process a tremendous amount of new (and often painful) information on a daily basis.

My hope is that you can all find rest. Rest so that you can remember to breathe and pray and get back on the trail. Rest in those oases of softness and beauty so that you can continue to be safe and healthy and informed. Cry and laugh and pray and reach out to connect with others.

I was reminded today that June 28 is the feast day of St. Irenaeus, the second-century Bishop of Lyons , who famously wrote, “The glory of God is a human being fully alive.” That is the goal of our faith - to find ways that each of us be fully alive. We need each other.

Please join us Sunday at 9:30am (EST) for Morning Prayer.

Blessings,
