June 15th, 2020
Just a couple of weeks ago, I shared with you the plan for bringing our campus back to life on the other side of the COVID-19 shut down, which we have been in since March 15 th . (If you have not yet seen that plan for yourself, you can find it on our website here. )

For the past few weeks, we have been successfully navigating phase one of our plan. Now, we are ready to move to phase two, beginning this Friday, June 19 th . This move will seek to bring more life back to our campus, in our larger spaces, in the form of church business meetings and small group gatherings, including groups such as UMW circles and Sunday School Classes.

Phase two of our plan does not yet move us to in-person Sunday morning gatherings for worship services. However, in phase two we are encouraging “Home Church Gatherings” – small groups of people who will gather in homes for fellowship and participation in our Sunday morning online worship services. In line with CDC Guidelines, we continue to encourage those in vulnerable groups to remain at home, and we encourage all who are gathering on campus to wear masks at in person meetings while practicing strict social distancing from one another. Of course, we will continue to provide online fellowship and discipleship opportunities using Zoom technology for those who prefer not to return to campus at this time.

One of the most frequent points raised with me in conversations about life returning to our campus during the last couple of weeks has been that other churches are opening up all around us again. For sure this is correct, but no two churches are the same in their make up of people or their campus/program design. Our plan has been specifically designed with our particular circumstances in mind. I understand the frustration of the ongoing nature of this pandemic, and I very much share in it, also.

Yet, I appeal to you all, my brothers and sisters in Christ, to continue together in this journey, caring for one another, and knowing that our great hope in Christ never perishes, spoils, or fades, and also that our time to gather together again will return.

If you want to talk further with me about any of this, please know that my door is open and I am happy to schedule that call or visit with you. We are all in this together, friends.

Watch out on Wednesday for video of a conversation between myself, Dr. Diana Twiggs, and Pastor Carrie about our move into phase two.

Blessings,
Pastor Charlie
