Rewind to Sunday, September 1st, 2024

Ever wonder what makes United Methodism unique? This week, we kicked off our 'Wesleyan Rooted' series, exploring the heart of our faith tradition. On Sunday we looked at what it means to Grow Deeply as United Methodist Christians. Pastor Charlie led us through the story of the origins of the 'Methodist' church and reflected upon how John Wesley's own growth and faith journey can inspire us today.

Read the Scripture: P

Psalm 119:97-112

Sermon Reflection Questions:

1. John Wesley experienced periods of doubt & spiritual emptiness.

How does this resonate with your own faith journey?

How do you handle times of doubt?

2. How might our spiritual practices shift if we viewed them, not as obligations, but as opportunities for deepening our relationship with God? In what ways can the 'methodical' approach of early Methodists inspire our own spiritual disciplines today?

3. Take a moment to reflect on your current spiritual state. Where do you feel your roots are deepest? Where do you need to grow? Choose one spiritual practice to focus on this week. Commit to engaging in it daily & reflect on how it impacts your faith.

Beginning next week, Pastor Rachel is offering a class called Bible Stories You Learned (or didn't learn) in Childhood! This is a

deeper dive into some familiar and maybe not so familiar stories from the Bible, what can we learn from them, how can we apply them to our lives today, and why were they included in the Bible in the first place? Her class will be Wednesdays at 6:30PM in the Multipurpose Room beginning September 4th. Sign up at: mumconline.com/signup
