The Impact We Have on Others Lasts Beyond One Institution
Before she arrived at UK, Krystle Kuhs participated in a program at Vanderbilt. This program allowed her to serve as a mentor for prospective medical students. One such student, Yeongha Oh, shared how the work with Krystle affected her.

“It’s not just working for myself, for my MD,” she said. “I want to be of service to the community, and I don’t have to wait until I get that degree to be a part of that community…I started this journey because I wanted to be that person, that advocate, for people who need me. As a first-generation immigrant, I’ve seen the ups and downs and how the health care system can be very difficult to approach and closed off to certain populations.”

This is the impact we can have on the lives of people we help, and the stories we need to tell more often. Our successes stretch beyond our college, and past even the borders of the commonwealth.

Please read more about the outstanding work Krystle did with this student on Vanderbilt's website.
