CPH "Stand-Up" Meeting Reminder!
On behalf of Dean Donna Arnett, our bi-weekly "Stand-Up" virtual meetings gives all CPH faculty and staff the opportunity to connect briefly to discuss issues, events, and announcements that impacts everyone at the college. Participation is strongly encouraged.

The next Stand-Up will be this Wednesday, December 1st at 8:30AM via Zoom. If you don't have the calendar invite or Zoom link, please email Alex Martin.

Welcome new staff member, Angela "Angie" Fogle!
Please help us welcome new staff member, Angela "Angie" Fogle, to the CPH team and family. Angie will be joining the Epidemiology department as their new Departmental Operations Manager.

Angie brings extensive experiences in both the entertainment and higher education industries, along with a strong HR and recruitment background. She also got her Bachelor's in Creative Advertising and MS in Educational Policy Studies, Student Affairs degrees from the University of Kentucky.
The Markey Cancer Center's STRONG Scholars program, funded by the American Cancer Society, provides career and professional development for students interested in cancer research and who come from historically underserved or underrepresented ethnic and racial backgrounds.

Congratulations to current CPH undergraduate students, Daniela Nakinoja (pictured far left) and Merron Lemma (pictured far right) for participating this year.
Hosted on UK's campus, the annual Global Health Case Competition challenges student teams to create strategies addressing a global health issue. This year, the focus was on implementing hurricane disaster preparedness strategies in a changing global climate.

Emma Hague, CPH freshman, participated with the student team that took first prize. They will now represent UK at the International Global Health Case Competition, hosted by Emory University, in Atlanta in 2022.
World AIDS Day, observed each year on December 1, is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV, and remember those who have died from an HIV-related illness. Started in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first-ever global health day.
Save the date for Dec. 3rd! PhD student in epidemiology and biostatistics, Jade Singleton, will be defending her research on ""Addressing Ascertainment Bias in the Study of Cardiovascular Disease Burden in Opioid Use Disorders - Application of Natural Language Processing of Electronic Health Records."
