Marcom Team Announces the "One Stop Shop"
The CPH Marketing and Communications team recently announced the new web-based, "One Stop Shop", which will serve as the college's new marketing and communications hub for submitting important events, success stories, website needs, creative requests, and much more! Our first ask is to update your faculty and staff profiles by Friday, October 29th.

CPH to represent at the APHA Annual Meeting & Expo
The APHA's 2021 Annual Meeting and Expo will take place Oct. 24-27 with the theme "Creating the Healthiest Nation: Strengthening Social Connectedness." 

We are exhibiting (booth#1814) and participating in panels, presentations, and papers on topics such as opioid overdose, perinatal outcomes, tobacco treatment, radon testing, violence prevention and other important public health topics.

Dr. Maureen Jones' Welcome Reception
The recent evening reception for Dr. Maureen Jones, our new MHA Program Director, was welcomed by a large crowd of the CPH community including faculty, staff, alumni, students and more. Welcome Dr. Jones and a special shout to Jillian Faith for all your hard work in organizing this event.
2021 Global Health Case Competition - $1,500 Cash Prize for Winning Student Team
The Fall 2021 Virtual Global Health Case Competition is an innovative student competition that rallies UK graduate and undergraduate students to form interdisciplinary teams that develop strategies to address a critical global health challenge. Deadline to register is October 29th, 2021.

Congrats to current BPH student, Daniela Nakinoja (pictured far left), in participating in the Markey STRONG Scholars Program, which fosters diversity in cancer research. Participants in the program gain valuable experiences that will help them further their future medical careers!

Staff Council Accepting Nominations for CPH Staff Employee of the Year
Do you know a hard-working individual that should be recognized for their efforts to make CPH great? Staff Council is now accepting nominations for CPH Staff Employee of the Year.  Winners will be announced at the CPH Winter Assembly and will receive a plaque as well as monetary award. Submit your nominations by Friday, November 5.

Innovation in Population Health (IPH)
IPH Recognized as a "Thought Leader" by APHA
The American Public Health Association (APHA) is recognizing the Innovation in Population Health Center as a "Thought Leader" in their video series that's part of the APHA 2021 Annual Meeting and Expo on October 24th - 27th. APHA TV airs a wide range of public health discussions from professionals, advocates and leaders, each giving their unique perspective and message.

Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC)
Bush Receives Rising Star Honor For Injury and Violence Prevention Work
Ashley Bush, DrPH, the principal investigator and epidemiologist of the Kentucky Violence and Injury Prevention Program (KVIPP), was among four recipients of the 2021 Rising Star Award. The award recognizes new professionals making strides in the discipline of injury and violence prevention.

Drug Overdose Fatality Surveillance System Quarterly Dashboard
The dashboard uses the Drug Overdose Fatality Surveillance System data. It reports the top substances and substance classes found in the post-mortem toxicology testing of KY resident drug overdose decedents in the most recent available quarter of data. The dashboard also shows general drug classes, substances, and demographics over the last four quarters of available data.
