Did you know that our UKMHA Student Association recently filled and packed 77 activity boxes for children in the emergency department at the Kentucky Children's hospital, which was part of The Jared Box Project toy drive and fundraiser? Thank you to everyone that made this giving back opportunity possible and putting more smiles on children's faces!

As a student, first-generation college graduate Alyssa Hargis kept seeing patterns of chronic disease among her family and friends. It was a CPH course that helped her begin to understand how and why the health disparities she witnessed growing up develop and how they can be mitigated.

Berea College graduate, alum and part-time instructor at CPH, Dr. Dia J. Obonyo, along with her husband, have dedicated themselves to helping others overcome the barriers that hold them back from realizing their full potential. “I was drawn to public health because it focuses on prevention,” Dr. Obonyo said. “This population experiences real barriers to care.”

Our own Dr. Erin Haynes has been appointed to the National Toxicology Program (NTP) Board of Scientific Counselors. NTP's mission is to collaborate with partners in identifying potentially hazardous substances and evaluating their effects for human health. Board members provides analysis and direction on the program’s scientific activities.

NEW KIPRC REPORT: The Kentucky Substance Use Research & Enforcement (K-SURE) report is based on data from possession and trafficking citations, drug overdose-related deaths, emergency department visits, hospitalizations, submissions to the state police lab, and general drug overdose-related events on six major substances in Kentucky from January 1, 2017–March 31, 2022.
