We are excited to celebrate National Public Health Week, starting next week. Check out our series of fun and informative events, service activities, and more that promotes public health's passion, purpose, and pathway for a healthier life. This year's theme is "Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health." EVERYONE is invited!

UK researchers to study COVID’s illicit fentanyl market spike in Eastern Kentucky


UK researchers are studying the changes in the illicit fentanyl market that occurred around the time of the COVID shutdown in Eastern Kentucky by going to the source: collecting data from and interviewing law enforcement, harm reduction specialists, and people who sell and/or use illicit drugs.

Dean Bush to throw out first pitch at UK Baseball Game, leads off National Public Health Week


Join us at our CPH College Game Day event and cheer on our Dean Heather Bush, and our Cats, as she throws out the first pitch at the UK Baseball home game at Kentucky Proud Park on Sunday, April 2nd, at noon. UK students, faculty, and staff with a valid UK ID get in for FREE. Staff and faculty can also bring a guest for FREE. Tickets are FREE for kids under 5 and additional discounted tickets ($3) are available.

CPH Staff Council presents Big Blue Pantry service project, part of NPHW


During National Public Health Week (NPHW), our own CPH Staff Council is partnering with the Big Blue Pantry on a donation event to help put a dent in student food insecurity. Drop in your plastic covered cutlery, can openers and reusable cutlery (forks, knives, spoons) at designated locations throughout the week!

CCTS Spring 2023 Conference, College of Public Health Research Day is TODAY


Join us TODAY at the UK's Center for Clinical and Transitional Science 18th Annual 2023 Spring Conference: "Translating Equity into Action" event at the Gatton Student Center. This event features the College of Public Health Research Day, which includes a suite of early-career faculty presentations and abstract posters.

Public Health Showcase 2023 Registration Deadline is TODAY!


The inaugural 2023 Public Health Showcase on April 10th, sponsored by CPH, is a unique opportunity for sharing innovative work in public health research, community practice, teaching, and workforce development. This event is open for EVERYONE. Event registration deadline is TODAY! If you have submitted an abstract, event registration is still required.

CPH Awards Night: Call for Nominations


On May 4th, CPH invites our community and special guests to the CPH Awards Night event, an opportunity to celebrate each other and recognize outstanding achievements. Nominations are currently open for Staff of the Year Award and Faculty Research Awards. Both nominations are due by April 7th.

CPH 395: A pathway for doing more practical research in public health and beyond


At CPH, undergraduate research program fosters student curiosity and development through mentored, self-directed work. Many students begin their research with CPH 395, Undergraduate Independent Studies in Public Health. When current CPH student Grace Mullikin applied for CPH 395, focusing on the deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) population did not occur to her.

KDPH's Summer Practicum and Internship Applications now OPEN


The Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) is currently accepting student internship and practicum placements for the Summer 2023 semester. Please review the attached catalog and share this information with your students. Virtual and paid positions are available. Deadline for student submissions is April 14, 2023.

TCOM Conference 2023 announces new deadline for proposals



After receiving several requests from past presenters and participants, the TCOM conference planning committee extended the proposal submission deadline to March 31, 2023. Proposal submissions will be considered for 1-hour breakout sessions during the 2023 TCOM Conference that will take place on Thursday, October 5, and Friday, October 6, 2023.

Abstract: Many Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) now screen enrollees and connect them to community-based organizations (CBOs) to address unmet social needs. COVID-19 has significantly disrupted health care delivery and overall economic activity in the United States. We examined how partnerships between Medicaid MCOs and CBOs to address social determinants of health have been affected by the pandemic.
