Dear School Community,
Congratulations on a successful school opening! I hope that everyone was able to connect with your child(ren)’s teachers during the virtual Back to School nights. As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to the teacher or school principal. We are always available to help.
We are moving forward with the plan to return to in-person learning on November 16, the first day of the second marking period. The plan remains to return to the 4-hour session in-person with remote time in the afternoon. We will be following the hybrid model (Gold/Purple) cohorts to reduce the number of students in each classroom. We will be reaching out to all parents again to finalize your choice for the hybrid or fully virtual options. We will be providing more information as the date approaches.
There are some ways you can help prepare your child for the transition. All students and staff are going to be required to wear a face covering while in school buildings. It is good idea to try different masks and practice wearing them for longer periods of time to build up to the 4-hour day. If your child has a medical condition which prohibits face coverings, please communicate with your child’s teacher and principal. The second thing that can help prepare your child for in-person school is to assist young children with proper hand washing procedures. You can find hand washing tips on the CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/index.html; and our school nurses have information on their school websites.
I do understand how hard this time has been on families and individuals. Throughout the spring, I provided many resources for mental health through the weekly emails. All archived messages can be found on the district website: https://www.monroe.k12.nj.us/Page/14705.
The district is proud to announce a parent evening! Raising Healthy Children During Very Challenging Times: A Discussion with George Scott on Tuesday, October 6 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.
