The month of November is a time to recognize the sacrifice of the men and women that served in the armed forces. U.S. veterans have sacrificed so much for our country and it is important to honor them for their service. In Texas, we have a few programs that seek to help and assist our current and former members of the military. These programs are spread across different state agencies that work to implement and administer them.
According to a Texas state summary conducted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, our state is home to around 1.6 million veterans. Many have chosen to stay in Texas or move to Texas from somewhere else due to the great programs that are in place to help assist our service members. Texas has a few resources that are managed by a wide range of state agencies, but the two primary agencies are the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) and the Veterans Land Board (VLB).
