This just in: PA Department of Health's COVID-19 Vaccine Update, 2/5/21

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is now sharing regular communications and updates on the topic of COVID-19 vaccine distribution in the commonwealth.

Registration is now available for COVID-19 vaccination at Evangelical Community Hospital for eligible Phase 1A residents. See graphic below for detailed instructions on registration and eligibility criteria. Eligible residents for Phase 1A should register for vaccination by calling 570-522-4530, then press 1. Phone lines are managed Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 6 PM.

Eviction Moratorium Extended Through March 31, 2021

How to protect yourself against eviction due to the pandemic

President Biden directed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to extend the nationwide ban on evictions through March 2021. The executive order also extends the foreclosure moratorium on government-backed mortgages, including those backed by the USDA, VA, and HUD. It also allows homeowners to apply for mortgage forbearance if they need it.

If you or someone you know is facing eviction due to non-payment of rent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic:

Complete the required CDC Eviction Moratorium Form (click here for English, click here for Spanish) - be sure to keep a copy for your own records!
Provide a copy of your completed and signed form to your landlord. Keep track of when and how it was provided - proof of delivery is always helpful!

In addition to our free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, now in operation, CAA also supports the use of MyFreeTaxes.com, an IRS and United Way initiative.

MyFreeTaxes.com empowers low-to-moderate-income taxpayers under the EITC income threshold of $57,000 to complete their own taxes using this secure, intuitive website. Since 2009, more than 1.2 million taxpayers have taken advantage of this service.

What you need to know about filing with MyFreeTaxes.com:

For the 2021 filing season, when taxpayers visit MyFreeTaxes.com, they will be provided options to file their taxes “By Myself”, “With Assistance” or “I’m Not Sure”. Each of these options leads the taxpayer to a triage location where the taxpayer will be asked to provide some basic information, allowing MyFreeTaxes.com to route their request to the appropriate tax preparation model (either a VITA/TCE site or the FSA TaxSlayer software).

After providing the basic information requested in the triage section, taxpayers will receive an email from MyFreeTaxes.com with a link and instructions on how to proceed to complete their tax return for free.
