UPDATE: 'Going Green' at CAA
How will CAA adapt to its counties reopening?
|
|
On March 16, Union-Snyder CAA officially implemented its COVID-19 Mitigation Plan: first staggering employee hours to minimize person-to-person contact, then shifting the majority of staff to remote workspaces in order to close our office to the public. The COVID-19 Mitigation Plan was updated May
2020 to adapt to the “yellow phase” status of the counties.
We now provide a June 2020 update to address the PA Commonwealth transition to the “green phase” of the plan for reopening Pennsylvania. CAA will follow this mitigation plan updated for the month of June 2020, prioritizing strategic implementation for the well-being of staff and customers. The changes will take effect after building workplace safety protocols have been implemented at a date to be announced. Once the office ‘meet and greet areas’ have been retrofitted to accommodate safety guidelines, CAA will be open by appointment only. At the end of the month, CAA will reevaluate its “green phase” plan to adapt for changes as necessary for July onward.
Maintaining excellent customer service while prioritizing staff and customer health and safety has been and continues to be the highest priority.

Emergency Delivery Program Adapts as Permanent Program
Despite challenging circumstances, Snyder County Veterans Affairs honors veterans
|
|
CAA's Basic Needs Delivery Program, developed as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, has been adapted to be a permanent offering from our agency. The Emergency Delivery Program is intended to help Union and Snyder county residents living with low income in emergency situations in between scheduled food pantries or distributions who are unable to leave their homes due to COVID-19, lack of transportation, remote location, and/or without childcare.
Deliveries will now be made Tuesdays and Thursdays only, unless there is an urgent need specified. Items still include food, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and diapers.
Please call (570) 374-0181 to answer a few simple pre-screening questions to see if you are eligible for delivery or submit an online request through our website.

Buy Groceries Online with SNAP
Participating retailers include Walmart, Amazon, and ShopRite
|
|
"The Department of Human Services (DHS) today announced that the system changes necessary to implement the pilot program that lets recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) purchase groceries online through participating retailers have been completed, and online grocery purchasing is now active at approved retailers.
“SNAP recipients in Pennsylvania have not had the flexibility to use online purchasing for grocery delivery or for prepayment of curbside pick-up, potentially putting their health and safety at risk during this health crisis. We are proud to announce that that changes today. We are glad to launch this pilot program to allow us to expand flexibility to SNAP recipients looking to utilize online grocery purchasing to support social distancing and COVID-19 mitigation efforts,” said DHS Secretary Teresa Miller. “No one should be in the position of jeopardizing their health to get groceries for their family. I encourage retailers across the commonwealth to reach out to Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) and join this program.”"

DID YOU KNOW?
If you are covered through Medical Assistance or the Children's Health Insurance Program, your coverage CANNOT be terminated during this time. It is critical that
we protect Medicaid enrollees during this crisis
. State lawmakers, faced with increased Medicaid costs, may look for other ways to reduce Medicaid spending, such as making it harder to apply for Medicaid, creating new barriers or eligibility requirements, or cutting benefits.
