The Center for Innovation in Population Health (IPH-C) heads the technical assistance team for the NPCS, led by Michael Cull, PhD. Dr. Cull and his team, work with partners around the world and represent 25+ years of clinical and research experience in public child welfare, systems-theoretical approaches to critical incident review, and systems improvement.

CPH's Dr. Kimberly Tumlin, assistant professor and research director for the Sports Medicine Research Institute (SMRI) Equine Athlete Initiative has developed, in collaboration, a groundbreaking jockey-specific concussion test to close the gap and fulfill some of these needs in the jockey community.

Caitlin Pope, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Behavior & Society and the Graduate Center for Gerontology, and Lauren Roach, current Gerontology Ph.D. student and graduate of our MPH and BPH programs, recently presented at The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) 2022 Scientific Meeting – which brings together nearly 4,000 researchers, clinicians, educators, and other professionals in the aging field.

More than 60 alumni and students were recently honored during the 31st annual Lyman T. Johnson Awards program. UK’s academic colleges (including CPH) and units selected at least one African American alumnus and student whose faith, hard work and determination has positively affected the lives of people on the UK campus, the city, state or nation to receive the Lyman T. Johnson Torch of Excellence and Torch Bearer Awards.

With one of the highest percentages of first-generation students at the University of Kentucky, the College of Public Health has recently launched a new website dedicated to the first-generation experience through sharing success stories, events, resources, and more.

Meet alum Kirk Strack (MHA '96), Assistant Chief Financial Officer at UofL Health. Building on 26 years of experience in healthcare and finance Strack works with the chief financial officer to oversee system-level financial operations to include general accounting, reimbursement, and care coordination.

Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability to U.S. children from 1 to 18 years old. Every day, 20 children die nationwide from preventable injuries, resulting in more deaths than all other diseases combined. In fact, injury is the leading cause of death for people through 44 years of age. On Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, the country’s leading injury and violence prevention organizations and health professionals are joining forces for the third annual “National Injury Prevention Day.”
