Practicum experience brings safe, clean water to communities in Kenya


Teacher and current student in our Master of Public Health program, Jennifer O'Brien, takes her practicum experience to Kenya in the summer of 2022 with WaterStep – a non-profit with a mission to provide safe water to communities in developing countries through empowerment, equal access, and transformative hope.


Eastern Kentucky Response, College of Public Health group initiates action through CASPER

In response to the devasting flooding in Eastern Kentucky, a group of CPH students recently contributed to public health preparedness and response by assisting agencies across the state’s tiered preparedness system through the Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER).

New searchable website will help people in recovery find housing

The Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC), housed in CPHrecently launched a new resource for people with substance use disorder (SUD) — FindRecoveryHousingNow KY.org. It's a free, searchable website that generates an individualized list of Kentucky recovery houses with immediate openings.

Shoulder to Shoulder health brigade brings education to communities in Ecuador

Dr. Ketrell McWhorter led a group of students in the Shoulder to Shoulder Global, a global health initiatives organization, housed in the UK International Center, that helps improve the health and well-being of an underserved community in Santo Domingo, Ecuador. 

First-generation and international student Princess Magor Agbozo receives 2022 Lyman T. Johnson Torch Bearer Award

First-generation and international student Princess Magor Agbozo is the recipient of our 2022 Lyman T. Johnson Torch Bearer Award, named after civil rights pioneer and the first African American student to attend the University of Kentucky in 1949.

Alumna Kia Bryant Receives 2022 Lyman T. Johnson Torch of Excellence Award

CPH is proud to recognize alum Kia Bryant with the 2022 Lyman T. Johnson Torch of Excellence Award, which recognizes one African American alum from each of the university’s academic colleges whose faith, hard work, and determination has positively affected the lives of people on UK’s campus, the city, nation, or beyond.

Meet Sarah Jane Robbins: “I’m Sarah and I am first generation”

Meet Sarah Jane Robbins, first-generation and recent CPH graduate. Sarah is a current staff member working as a biomedical data science assistant and previously a part-time instructor for biostatistics. Sarah is also currently enrolled in our new Master of Science in Biostatistics program.

UK MHA moves up early-decision application deadline for prospective students

Our Master of Health Administration program has recently moved its early-decision application deadline to Nov. 1, 2022, creating new potential benefits and incentives for candidates.
