Message from the Mayor

On behalf of council and staff, I want to thank everyone who came out for the recent Gravenhurst Winter Carnival.

It was terrific to see people having fun over the course of the Family Day weekend.

I also want to recognize everyone who helped make this great annual tradition possible. Thank you for your support.

I am confident that next year's carnival will be even better.

At our council meeting this month, we received the town's Municipal Service Delivery Review and endorsed the document in principle.

The review is a guide for how we can best deliver services in the coming years as our community grows.

You can learn more about the review by checking out the news release in this newsletter.

Your council also approved grants through the Terence Haight Financial Assistance Program and the Community Improvement Program (CIP).

The Terence Haight grants will support a variety of community organizations that do fantastic work throughout the year.

The CIP grants will assist with several facade and structural improvements to local buildings.

To learn more about these grants and other municipal matters that council dealt with this month, check out the Council Highlights package that is part of the newsletter.

In closing, I want to once again thank the Gravenhurst Lions Club for sponsoring the new AED device we now have at the Lions Pavilion at Muskoka Wharf. We had an official unveiling on Feb. 21.

Additionally, I want to thank the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst for the opportunity to speak at the club's dinner on Feb. 20. It was a privilege to share information about a number of municipal initiatives.

I look forward to updating you again next month.

Until then, please take care.

Heidi Lorenz,

Mayor.
