Coming to a Payroll Near You: Estimated Payroll Funding Receipt after Posting

Starting 9/7, customers will receive an estimated withdrawal in the review page of payroll, allowing customers to see the estimated funds they will need to have to cover the payroll they have posted.

  • This includes funds collected by Toast and funds not collected by Toast but still the financial responsibility for that payroll.
  • This receipt will only appear after the payroll has been posted and until the banking team processes the payroll via ACH sweep.
  • After the ACH sweep has been completed the customer will see today’s Toast Payroll Withdrawal Receipt.

Schedule 1:1 Configuration Call through Chili Piper

Just like the Onboarding Kickoff Call, the 1:1 Configuration Call should be scheduled through Chili Piper using the pre-created meeting type ‘1:1 Configuration Review’.

By using this meeting type, OCs will be able to take advantage of automated email and SMS appointment reminders as well as in-product appointment reminders in the future!

Using this meeting type will also help reinforce the expectations you are setting with the customer for this call. The invite description will include a reminder that the customer should complete both Manager Essentials Training and their Setup Checklist prior to the call.

You can find this meeting type in the Chili Piper Chrome extension as shown in this image!

Toast Payroll: Plaid Integration on Payment Method Page

By the end of the day on 9/7, Plaid, a third-party tool for bank account validation, will be rolled out to aid employees in their direct deposit set ups.

Employees adding their own bank account for the first time and existing employees (with less than 3 accounts) who are updating their account information, will view the new Payment Method page. HR+/Admin users will still utilize the existing Payment Method workflow.

EC Care Agents should use the #new-ee-payment-method Slack channel for questions/passing along customer feedback.

MFA Disable added to Debug User Page & My Account Page

The “Debug User” section in Toastweb is a place where we’ll build out tools that allow tier 2 support agents to carry out actions that would typically have required reaching out to the engineering team. We have new functionality here to help disable a user’s MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) so their password can be reset.

The MFA on/off toggle in “My Account” is now available for all toast web users. To navigate to this page, go to the left rail navigation under "Identity mgmt" and select the "Debug User" page.

Here you'll be able to see if a user has Multi-factor Authentication enabled on their account. If MFA is enabled, a button will appear to allow the support team member to disable the MFA.

For more screenshots and details on this new functionality, see the KB article below!

Google Recaptcha Upgrade

We’ve upgraded our Google ReCaptcha (via Auth0) from version 1 to version 2 on terminal devices.

Where V1 showed the user the classic captcha image to type in and prove they’re not a bot, version 2 has the “I am not a robot” button. The algorithm then judges the risk of the user and either lets them in or asks them to do a “select the image” style CAPTCHA.

This should reduce the impact of CAPTCHA on our users, leading to an improved experience and workflow while also offering us protection from bot attacks.

NOTE: Not available on Elo v1 devices. But this does not affect POS login, only Toast Web login via the Elo v1.

Child Support Vendor Set-Up Training 9/9

In an effort to help customers set up a child support vendor, there will be a Child Support Vendor Training (starting 9/9) in addition to the Child Support Vendor List/Tool that should be used as a reference for the state the agent is setting up to find the direct deposit information.

This list/tool allows Onboarding and Care, when setting up the child support vendor, to be set up as direct deposit, rather than as a check. By doing so, this makes child support payment more efficient.

With the release of 11.7, Easy Inventory Counting is here!

  • A huge customer pain point has been addressed and users are now able to count their inventory by multiple pack sizes within a product group. There is nothing to be done on the customer side, any count lists available after 9.5 will automatically see this update. Easy Inventory Counting is updated in the following pages: Inventory Count Screen, Download PDF/Excel, Preview List, Download PDF/Excel.

Additional 11.7 feature updates:

  • Mobile Push Notifications: Mobile users will receive push notifications for Pending Invoices (invoices in exceptions, map products, and extraction failed queues.)
  • Payroll Default Settings: New tenants with payroll enabled will have default settings based on the settings primarily used by customers.
  • Default Labor Groups: New tenants will have an updated list of streamlined labor groups. They are still able to add their own or delete as they see fit.
  • Payroll Journal: Direct Deposits and Fees will be summarized in the payroll journal entry .
  • Extract Information Details: The extract monitor will now show the date an extract was enabled. This will eliminate confusion around what invoices are available to be extracted.

Our Education Team has been hard at work updating and adding articles to Toast Central so you can better enable our customers to support themselves on all things xtraCHEF! Be sure to check out the Morning Menu every Tuesday for updates on what’s new:
