DR. MILLER NAMED 2023 DIMMITT FELLOW
Dr. Jennifer L. Miller is Morningside University's Dimmitt Fellow for the spring of 2023. Miller's calendar while in residence will feature a variety of opportunities for interested individuals to learn about her expertise in the field of embodied writing.

WERDEN NAMED JUNE ADVISOR OF THE MONTH
Morningside University's Omicron Delta Kappa Circle leader Leslie Werden was named the national society's June Advisor of the Month. In addition to this honor, she was inducted into the Five Star Society in recognition of time served on the national board at the 2022 ODK National Leadership Conference.

MORNINGSIDE ONLINE PROGRAMS RANKED AMONG TOP IN IOWA
Morningside University was named to the Best Online Colleges in Iowa 2022 list by University HQ, an independent education organization that compiles comprehensive information for students pursuing their higher education.

MORNINGSIDE RECEIVES NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES GRANT
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has announced that Morningside University will receive a $142,797 Humanities Connections Implementation Grant to support a three-year project that will implement an agricultural humanities minor at the University.

DR. HAASE RECEIVES 2022 IOWA OUSTANDING LEADER
Dr. LuAnn Haase, program coordinator for Master of Arts in Teaching Initial Licensure programs at Morningside University, received the 2022 Iowa Outstanding Leader/Educator Award from the Iowa Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (IACTE) at the IACTE Spring Conference.

CHOIR SELECTED FOR IOWA CHORAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION CHORAL SHOWCASE
The Morningside Choir has been selected to perform at the Iowa Choral Directors Association (ICDA) Choral Showcase. The Morningside Choir was the only university choir in the state chosen for the prestigious showcase that includes top choirs from throughout Iowa.

AMY GERKING ANDERSON
Amy Gerking Anderson ('89) taught at Le Mars community schools for 33 years before retiring. Her passion for art and ability to connect with students has been incredibly impactful "Even though I am retiring, I can honestly say that teaching art is the BEST. When you can share your love of creating with young minds, it is fulfilling beyond expectations.

CHRIS COX
Chris Cox ('21) attended Morningside in the early 2000's and returned to graduate last year. He now runs a non-profit organization called United by Culture Media with his wife. "We aim to change the narrative of how Rural Nebraska is viewed to show the beauty in Diversity population and history."

JOHN ANDERSON
For some people, the closest they want to get to bees is buying a bottle of honey from the store. John Anderson ('22), a computer science major, is not one of those people. He has been interested in bees since he was a child and the fascination continued into his adulthood. He now offers a free introductory course titled "Is Beekeeping Right For You?"

TWO TABBED PING/GCAA ALL-AMERICANS
The men's golf program continued to add to an illustrious 2021-22 campaign when seniors Jonny Douglas and Sam Storey were announced as National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' PING/Golf Coaches Association of All-American teams.

ATHLETICS NOTCHES STRONG CUP PERFORMANCE
Morningside produced 437 points to place No. 30. The total was highlighted by 275 points in the winter and 100 points in the fall.

A CAREER FINISH LINE - NASH, SENIORS WIND UP IMPRESSIVE RUN
As Coach Nash's time coaching at Morningside comes to an end, he looks back fondly on the experience, "To be able to compete for and then coach at my alma mater in a sport I've always loved is a dream come true."

Morningside University has purchased 76 acres of land southeast of Sioux City that will be integrated into the curriculum of the Regina Roth Applied Agricultural and Food Studies Department.

A May Term Experience to Remember

HEAR THE MORNINGSIDE CHOIR'S SPECTACULAR RENDITION OF AMAZING GRACE
This spring, Morningside hosted a May Term trip for students, alumni, and friends that visited Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. A highlight of the trip included performances by the Morningside Choir at a variety of venues, with the choir regularly receiving standing ovations and voracious applause from the audiences that gathered. This video captured the choir's performance of Amazing Grace in Vienna, Austria. Since being posted to social media, it has nearly 100,000 views and almost 500 shares via Facebook. We hope it inspires you to come listen to the choir in person this fall.
