Mike Shreve has special insights into the subject of “comparative religion” partially because of his background. He was raised Roman Catholic and was quite involved in that sect of Christianity for many years. Then, wiping the religious slate clean and beginning afresh, in 1970, he began pursuing the spiritual perspective offered in eastern religions. After studying under an India guru, he became a teacher of yoga at four universities and opened a yoga ashram in Tampa, Florida. Then through a series of miraculous, divine interventions, he encountered the love and the reality of Jesus Christ and left the far eastern approach behind.
In 2005, Mike Shreve was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Faith Theological Seminary in Tampa, Florida, primarily for his work in two areas of theology: comparative religion and the spiritual identity of Christian believers. His ministry has impacted many who embrace his previous worldviews, like the precious Hindu people in open air gatherings like those pictured below.
