The North Carolina Main Street Conference is coming to downtown Salisbury NC! The NC Main Street Conference is an annual 3-day conference, open to anyone interested in downtown economic development. Attendees gain knowledge from networking with other downtown enthusiasts and from sessions facilitated by an impressive lineup of downtown professionals. ​ The NC Main Street Awards Ceremony showcases the top projects in the state while the NC Main Street Champions Ceremony recognizes citizens and groups that have made an impact in their community's downtown revitalization efforts. Why the NC Main Street Conference Matters to SALISBURY NC

Between the days of Tuesday March 12th and Thursday March 14th, over 600 visitors from throughout the State of North Carolina will descend upon downtown Salisbury NC. Restaurants and shops are ramping up for increased business. The Main Street Conference is Salisbury's opportunity to put its best foot forward and shine. We expect a pleasant boost to the economy as guests travel on foot or via Historic Trolley through the downtown between Conference registration at the F & M Trolley Barn and conference sessions at the Meroney and Norvell Theaters. The Empire Hotel Project Moving Forward

Work on the $20 million redevelopment of the historic Empire Hotel in downtown Salisbury will kick off by 2019 year-end! It has been almost three years since the City of Salisbury and Black Point Investments announced the plans to buy the 164-year-old hotel along with two other adjacent buildings and convert them into residential apartments and commercial space. The impact this will have on downtown Salisbury development is expected to be dramatic!

Speaking of Residential Spaces: Brett Sturm, Restoration Specialist at North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources , will be participating in a panel discussion called 'Living it Up Downtown' with Salisbury's Diane Young and Pete Bogle speaking at the NC Main Street Conference here in Salisbury on Wednesday March 13th. Popular Art Exhibit Continues Through April

This February, the Salisbury Business Center hosted the opening reception for 'Through the Eyes of the City' - a photographic art exhibit featuring the striking black and white silver-tone photography by artist Duane DuVall. Nearly 200 people attended the opening, and it has become one of our most popular exhibits to date, with art and photography enthusiasts visiting daily to see the works. 'Through the Eyes of the City' will be displayed through April 26, 2019 - Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, free and open to the public. All exhibited works are for sale. The artist receives 100% of the sale proceeds under the SBC Art Partnership Gallery Exhibits Program. Also exhibiting at the Salisbury Business Center are local artists: Isabel Hartsell | Ashley Pierce Love | Clyde | Laura Rasmussen

New Downtown COFFEE SHOP March 8th

The Mean Mug Coffee Company is hosting its GRAND OPENING Friday March 8th. After a successful three years in the Fulton Heights Neighborhood, Mean Mug is moving to downtown Salisbury! Mean Mug will be expanding a much anticipated breakfast menu in addition to their organic free-trade coffee menu. Most importantly, the new Mean Mug location at 110 N. Main Street is providing job opportunities for S.O.A.R. students, providing a stable income to challenged individuals and the opportunity to be included in the community. The addition of Mean Mug Coffee Company to the area will mean two coffee shop locations for visitors, employees, and residents of the downtown. Koco Java at the corner of N. Main and E. Kerr Streets remains a favorite stop for many. There can never be too much coffee in downtown Salisbury, right?

Sunday March 10 Daylight saving time 2019 in North Carolina will begin at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 10 Known as  Spring Forward or Daylight Savings Time , on Sunday March 10th, 2019, at 2:00 AM, clocks are turned forward 1 hour to 3:00 AM! Cheers to longer sunshine ahead!
