Preserving Arts & Education Federal Funding

Dear Dance Educators & Advocates,

There is still time to make your voice heard.

The FY 2026 Federal Budget has not been fully voted on, and it is not yet "the law." There is still time to send a message to your federally elected officials about preserving funding for arts and education in the federal budget. The chart below shows what is being proposed.

You can take action TODAY! Join NDEO and the Arts Education Alliance by participating in our Advocacy campaign on the Quorum platform. This system allows you to send a pre-written message to your federally elected officials about protecting arts and education funding in the FY 2026 Budget. It only takes a few minutes. Send Your Message Here

Regards,

From all of us behind the scenes at NDEO.....

A Student’s Perspective on What True Dance Education Teaches Students

"Lately, I am approached with short clips of my friends trying a TikTok dance. Often, after dance practice, I’ll walk into a classroom and find a group gathered around a phone, laughing as they attempt to learn the latest viral routine."

When the Rhythm Hits: Teaching Calypso and Feeling the Pocket

"In every classroom I enter—whether in the U.S. or back home in Trinidad—I bring rhythm with me. It’s not something I add to the dance. It is the dance. Rhythm is the structure, the entry point, the thing that tells you not just when to move, but why to move."

Feeling First: Embodied Feedback as Anti-Oppressive Artistic Practice

"As dance educators, we regularly offer feedback. It’s in our syllabi, built into our assessments, and embedded in our studio culture. But most of us were never taught how to give feedback—only how to survive it."
