Enjoy Super Bowl Sunday With Us - This Sunday, Feb. 5th
Just a reminder to members, friends and families to join us on Sunday for our annual Super Bowl party! What better way to watch the big game than on our big screens, surrounded by good company, while enjoying a beverage and some tasty food at our council?
Our lounge is open this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings for pre-Super Bowl fun and activities.
On Sunday, we'll be open at 3 p.m. for the pre-game shows. Our lounge will be providing a wedge and appetizers; the council has some hot Italian dishes to offer; and everybody is welcome (and encouraged!) to bring a hot or cold dish, or a dessert, for the community buffet table.
Super Bowl Sunday has become a great family-friendly tradition at our council, and this year will prove to be another event you won't want to miss. Join us!

Men's Beefsteak Fundraiser A Hit!
We had an incredible time at our Second Annual Men's Beefsteak Parish Fundraiser on Saturday, January 14th! Now dedicated in memory of our dearly departed brother, Sir Knight Jimmy O'Neill, we had a blast with all-you-could-eat gourmet filet mignon and fries, beer and wine, the NFL playoffs, fantastic auctions, and all for a very worthy cause!
Funds raised from this year's beefsteak will go toward helping with renovations of the St. James the Apostle Chapel of Life, as well as the reconstruction of the life-size crèche and restoration of the Nativity scene figures.
Thanks to everybody who turned out to make it a success, especially our hard-working volunteers! This event was a great example of how Knights of Columbus can all at once embody the principles of our Order - Charity, Fraternity, and Unity. Well done brothers!

We proudly welcomed 18 new members to our Order at the First (Admission) Degree Exemplification held by our council on Thursday, January 19th! Fifteen of those brothers are members of our council, including our parish's Parochial Vicar, the Reverend Szymon Kurpios. Our other newest members are Jeffrey Bauer, Michael Clement, Kevin Cullen, Steven Crecco, Leonard Detoma, Sean Glendon, Liam Kenny, Seamus Kenny, Brian McCoy, Edward Obojkovits, Jose Ramon, Steven Smith, the Hon. Robert Tendy, and Richard Venona.
Immediately following on the same night was a Second (Formation) Degree with 19 participants, including the 15 brothers who made their First Degree and brother Knight Joseph Schech.
Please extend your congratulations to our newest brothers, welcome them to the council, help them get involved in our many activities, and encourage them to take the final step to full knighthood in our honored Order.
Thank you to all of our members who turned out in support of the candidates, especially their sponsors. And also special thanks to our in-house Degree Team, which is comprised entirely of members of our council, and which carries out both the First and Second Degree Exemplifications in a dignified and professional manner.

St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal Installation Dinner
We are once again a proud sponsor of the Northern Westchester/Putnam St. Patrick's Day Parade, the third largest in all of New York State. Pictured here are members of our council who turned out at Centennial Golf Club on January 27th for the Installation Dinner to honor this year's Grand Marshal, Father Joseph Tierney, who is a Third Degree member of our Order.
Please note that this year's parade will be on Sunday, March 12th, stepping off at 2 p.m. We will provide more information on the parade and the post-parade reception at our council as we get closer to that date. More information may be found on the parade committee's website.

- Thank you to all those who offered their condolences on the passing of our brother Sir Knight, Jerry Villucci, who passed away peacefully on January 23rd at the age of 91. His family expressed their gratitude to all the Knights, and especially to the Color Corps members organized by our Commander Mike O'Brien, who served as honor guard during the wake. Please pray for the happy repose of Jerry's soul and for the comfort of his family
- Our council recently submitted to Supreme Council our Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity, which accounts for the charitable donations and service performed by our council over the prior year. The numbers are nothing short of remarkable. In conjunction with our amazing Ladies Auxiliary, we were able to make donations to church, community, culture of life, and youth activities totaling almost $24,000 in 2016! In addition, we helped collect 174 units of blood and performed over 4,400 hours of volunteer service. Most of these donations and service hours stayed right here in our own community. These incredible numbers are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our members to live the first principle of our Order - Charity. May God Bless everybody who helped make these accomplishments possible, and most heartfelt thanks from our council's officers.
- As an example of the kind of youth activities we report on in the survey discussed above, our council once again hosted the KofC Basketball Free Throw Contest at St. James the Apostle Church on Monday, January 16th. In addition to running a fun contest for boys and girls with the chance to advance to championship rounds, we provided hot dogs and ice cream to all of the participants. This year we had an impressive turnout -- 98 participants! Thank you to all of the volunteers who made the event such a success, especially DGK Steve Gheduzzi and FS Mike Rama.
- Finally, we'd like to share with you some recent thoughts from His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, on the Knights of Columbus. In a piece entitled "The Knights of Columbus are There!" our Cardinal observes, "...the Knights are now the largest Catholic voluntary organization in the nation, renowned as well for their vast service to causes such as assistance to those mentally and physically challenged, promotion of Catholic schools, encouragement of vocations to the priesthood, advocacy for Christians persecuted throughout the world, pro-life efforts, and defense of the nature of marriage and family as revealed by God." Read the rest of his comments and see why he calls members of our Order "salt of the earth" here.
