Consistently Being Consistent is the Most Consistent Way to Achieve Consistent Success!

Consistently Being Consistent is the Most Consistent Way to Achieve Consistent Success!

Happy New Year!

As we step into the new year, many of us are reigniting our health and fitness goals with renewed motivation and ambition. While January 1st is ultimately an arbitrary date, it symbolizes a fresh start for many, particularly after the indulgences of the holiday season. If you are using this time to embark on a renewed fitness journey, remember that a healthy mindset is the key to long-term success.

In the burst of New Year enthusiasm, it's common to set lofty goals. While ambition is commendable, ensure these targets are realistic and gradual, especially if they represent a significant change from your past habits. This year, let's prioritize consistency, sustainability, and gradual progress. Fitness is a marathon, not a sprint, and the goal is to integrate these changes into your lifestyle permanently.

The fitness world is currently saturated with "experts" who often present their advice in absolute terms, frequently pitting one philosophy against another. This approach is often negative and dismissive of other perspectives, too. While everyone is entitled to their opinions and strategies, it's crucial to remember that what works for one person or a specific group may not be the best approach for everyone. As a seasoned fitness professional with decades of experience, I've learned the importance of finding what you love, what brings you fulfillment, and committing to it consistently. Keep in mind, your preferences and what works for you will evolve over time, and that's perfectly okay.

To truly embrace a fitness journey that lasts, it's essential to discover what uniquely works for you. Engage in exploration and listen to various professionals, but also critically evaluate and adapt their advice to fit your unique circumstances, including your schedule, environment, and personal preferences. The most effective plan is one that is enjoyable, sustainable, and adaptable to your evolving life, because then you will actually do it!

Life's imperfections mean that a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach rarely works. So, if a suggested routine feels too demanding, don't be afraid to modify it. Combine different methods, experiment with new activities, and find alternative ways to stay active that you genuinely enjoy and see results from. The key is consistent, incremental improvement, adapting as you go, and not being afraid to think outside the box. This approach ensures that your fitness journey is as unique as you are, catering to your life's realities and your personal goals.

Remember, your fitness journey should not only be rigorous and effective but also enjoyable. Unless you're training for a specific competition, the essence of your routine should be fun and motivating. And don't forget to consider the "why" behind your fitness goals. Are you looking to improve your health, feel more energetic, or enjoy activities with loved ones? Understanding your deeper motivations can provide clear direction, sustained drive, and greater satisfaction.

Acknowledge your progress in all its forms. Celebrate the physical, mental, and emotional benefits that come with a healthier lifestyle. And if you're facing challenges, remember that progress is often non-linear and encompasses more than just numbers.

Lastly, an often overlooked yet critical aspect of committing to real, positive, long-lasting changes is the financial investment in your health. The amount of money you spend on your fitness and well-being should be significant enough to make you think twice about skipping that training session, ignoring the program your coach designed for you, or straying from your nutrition plan. This financial commitment serves as an additional layer of accountability, nudging you to take your investments seriously. Ultimately, it's not just spending money; it's investing in your health, your future, and your commitment to making lasting changes.

As we embark on this year, let's lessen the pressure to be perfect. Reflect on what you want to achieve, set small, achievable goals, and most importantly, enjoy the process. Our team at PEX is here to guide and support you (yes, we do see the irony!), ensuring you're on the right track to hitting your goals.

Here's to a year of health, happiness, and fitness that feels right for you!

1) Open Treadmill Hour

The open treadmill hour is a 60-minute block for clients to book a treadmill. This could be someone training for a marathon or just looking to get a run in. This is not a class or instructor lead. This is not part of the Train Full Send class schedule. During this time clients have access to a treadmill on the group fitness side of our gym. You can also use the dumbbells on this side. You will not be able to use the equipment on the personal training side.

2) FORGED Circuits

Alex Badlissi will be teaching FORGED Circuits beginning in January. It’s a twist to our circuit class - we’re adding a boxing station and battle rope station!

3) Adding Classes

We’re adding a few night classes starting in January. Be on the lookout for that on our schedule!

HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE

Thank you so much to all who donated items to our multiple food drives across all locations over the last month.

Pilates Anyone? Come to Medfield!

We are excited to welcome back, John Chapple, to our team in Medfield!

John Chapple has been a comprehensively certified classical Peak Pilates instructor since 2017. He has successfully managed several studios and built and developed teams of instructors. He has worked diligently with his clients to help them feel and move better using the Pilates method, improving their day-to-day lives while outside of the studio.

John has worked with clients who were told they'd never stand up straight, walk without a walker, or be able to climb stairs ever again. Through hard work and consistency, he's been able to help his clients achieve goals they never thought possible. One client went from not being able to climb stairs to being able to go for long walks on the beach and kayaking. Another was in a wheelchair after being hit by a car, today she's able to scuba dive and skydive.

John is now the owner of Core Strengths Fitness and will be teaching the Classical Pilates system exclusively at PEX: Medfield.

What is Pilates?

"Pilates includes concentration on each movement, use of the abdomen and low back muscles, flowing, precise movement patterns, and controlled breathing. Depending on the exercise, Pilates routines can be performed on specially designed apparatuses, including a bed-like structure called a reformer, or more simply on a mat or blanket."
