The August, 2022 Edition of the NLB
Rise and Shine!

It's August 1st and we are pleased to welcome you back to the most glorious newsletter-blog that ever existed. This month we are bringing you PEX NLB Lite™.
Ahh *sigh* the dog days of summer...one of my favorite times of year in New England. Hopefully we got this year's extreme heat out of the way last month so we can continue to enjoy the weather without worrying about catching a heat stroke, or burning our pups' feet on the pavement, speaking of dogs. Anybody know WHY we say 'dog days', anyway? Surprising answer at the end. Now, you have to read on!

I'll give you a hint. It doesn't actually have anything to do with dogs. Or hot dogs. But here is a cute dog holding a hot dog anyway. You're welcome.
Happy August, everyone!

PEX July Client Spotlight– Stephanie Patti

Stephanie is celebrating her first anniversary of working with Ally, owner of Ally Hajjar Fitness, at PEX. Last year, she came to Ally feeling badly about her body and the negative impact the pandemic had on her weight. She wanted to lose 20 pounds and thought it would be nearly impossible.

Now, one year later, she has lost 30 pounds and her body has completely changed. She comes to Ally's semi-private sessions consistently and still enjoys life, time with friends, dinners out, etc.

Ally and Steph hadn't met before they started working together. They have become close friends and have developed an amazing trainer-client relationship which has really made it all fun and easy for both of them. Ally is so proud of all of Steph's hard work and she feels fortunate to have met her.

From the whole team at PEX: Way to go, Stephanie! We are so happy to have you as a part of our community and can't wait to see what the next year will bring! 🎉
PEX SALUTATIONS
In Conclusion,
So, why DO we call this time of year the 'dog days' of summer? I'm sure you could barely stand the suspense. Most people think it has to do with the extreme heat and the effect it has on dogs (panting, lethargy, needing to be sprayed with the hose, etc.)

NOPE!

The saying, 'dog days of summer' ACTUALLY refers to the constellation Canis Major, which is said to represent one of Orion's hunting dogs (so technically dogs are involved, yay!). Around late July and early August in the Northern Hemisphere, Sirius, the brightest star in Canis Major, appears to rise with the Sun. Ancient Greeks and Romans believed that the heat from both Sirius and the Sun combined causes the extreme heat we experience during this time of year.

You came, you saw, you conquered.

Catch up with you all next month!
