Mental Health Therapist in NY Shares the Impact of NTI | |
The NTI training content was incredibly comprehensive and far exceeded what I had hoped or expected! I was initially on the fence about enrolling because I already have a strong foundation for attachment-based clinical work, and have such little time available. I can say with absolute certainty that it was worth-while dedicating the time to participate in this program! I learned so much about the nuances of clinical work supporting individuals and families regarding all facets of the adoption process.”

Data Corner
The proof is in the numbers! Because data is key, C.A.S.E. (The Center for Adoption Support and Education) has partnered with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Center on Children, Families, and the Law for the evaluation of NTI Training. In each newsletter, we will share a part of what we are learning in the ongoing findings.
NTI participants take a pre-test and a post-test for each module. As seen in the charts, participants in all curricula show learning gains in every module. These data show the ongoing need for the NTI training and the learning that takes place. The growth in knowledge and skills demonstrates NTI is addressing much-needed training topics and has the ability to build capacity within these workforces in these areas.

| Is the National Center for Adoption Competent Mental Health Services familiar to you? The National Center, led by C.A.S.E., is a 5-year federally funded cooperative agreement between C.A.S.E. and the Children’s Bureau (# 90CO1145) to work with 6 states per year to build bridges between the child welfare system and the mental health system/providers to improve outcomes and access to adoption and permanency competent mental health services for children and families experiencing foster care, kinship care, adoption, and guardianship. | | Expansion of NTI is a core part of the work of the National Center to enhance the adoption competency of the mental health and child welfare workforce in states as part of their technical assistance plans. School Districts Recognize this Training Contributes to Being Trauma-Informed: | |
The School-Based Mental Health Professionals Training (NTI-Ed) has its origins adapted from the robustly vetted NTI training, and now has seen over 1000 enrollees! Individual participants and entire school districts engage in the training and are spreading the word. School districts from Illinois, Maryland, Oklahoma, and California have joined us in this important initiative to enhance school mental health support.
Training Implementation Highlights:
The Oklahoma Department of Human Services has implemented NTI-Ed coaching for their school-based workers. The monthly coaching sessions occur once a month and equip school professionals to understand and address the emotional, behavioral, and educational challenges that adopted, foster care, and kinship students may face. The agency's commitment to investing in ongoing education fortifies their dedication to improving outcomes for students.
Several School Districts in Illinois, including Lake Forest Elementary School have engaged in the training. Districts 67 and 115 are progressive with over 1600 students, and have 30 school mental health professionals engaged in the training and coaching! They are guiding the students using the new resources and tools, passionate about providing academic excellence!
| Hear from a Superintendent in Illinois: | |
NTI School-based Mental Health Professionals Training Is an outstanding resource for school-based professionals and behavioral health specialists. The training is filled with evidence-based research strategies for supporting youth and families who have experienced the challenges associated with the world of adoption, foster care, and kinship parenting relationships.
This training not only offers extraordinary guidance for those whose lives have been touched by the related trauma of these lived experiences but also supports trauma-informed practices for young people from many backgrounds. This training will impact my professional practice in a multitude of ways. The knowledge base is one that holds promise for all who work with children and families. It can be life-changing for all involved.”
