Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America
In commemoration of Juneteenth ..... film and discussion

Hosted by the Racial Justice and Reconciliation Commission in the Episcopal Church in Delaware and the Montgomery Anti-Racism Advocacy Group of New Castle Presbytery.

In the spirit of anti-racism, all are encouraged to come and watch the film and engage with your neighbors.
When: June 19, movie begins promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Where: First and Central Presbyterian Church, 1101 N. Market Street, Wilmington
Why: Learn about the practical effects of racism on our society. Be challenged to action by what you hear.
The Delaware Juneteenth Association (DEJA)
DEJA develops and implements strategic prevention programming that addresses the problems facing our communities: alcohol, tobacco, and substance abuse; domestic and gang related violence; teen pregnancy; and low self-esteem by educating our children from pre-school to young adults through workshops and cultural events that provide knowledge and celebrate the African American experience as our heritage relates to all people.

DEJA is offering several events to commemorate Juneteenth in Delaware this year including a flag raising ceremony, gala, festival, and parade. More information

Flute Recital and Lecture, Sunday, June 4, 3 pm
Trinity Church Wilmington
Flutist Louis Perazza will present a free recital/lecture on the flute Sonatas of Dick Kattenberg and Leo Smit. Both men lost their lives in the Nazi concentration camps and left behind flute sonatas that they never heard performed. Hear their compelling stories and the music written right up to the point that both men were taken from their homes and transported to their deaths. The recital will close with the dynamic Sonata for Flute and Piano by Lowell Libermann. Louis will be joined by Matthew Jewell on Piano. 
Kindred Spirits, free concert, Sunday, June 4, 3pm
Old Christ Church, Laurel
Kindred Spirits is a duo, aka Steve and Ali Quillen. They will be performing a rich and eclectic variety of Americana and Celtic music, ranging from bluegrass and traditional tunes and ballads to classic American and Pop standards. Their sound features fiddle, guitar, banjo, and male and female harmony vocals. All are welcome to enjoy the concert as well as the ambience of this lovely historic church, built in 1772 and preserved as it was back then.
