State Legislative action on Climate: SB305 – Climate Change Solutions Act
Bishop Brown joined several other speakers at the #Rally4thePlanet in Dover on June 9th to show support for the Delaware Climate Change Solutions Act, SB305. This Act follows the issuance of Delaware’s Climate Action Plan in 2021, and would reduce our emissions by 50% by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050. It would also ensure equity in emission reductions and state planning by making sure that overburdened communities are at the table during the planning process. States across the country have passed similar legislation to combat the effects of climate change. Further, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Controls has a report that details the high cost to the state of Delaware if we fail to cut emissions. Care for creation and the disproportionate impacts of climate change on overburdened communities are the reasons the bishop supports SB305.
A legislative hearing before the House was scheduled for last week, but Governor Carney told the House sponsor to pull the bill off the agenda.
If you would like to support passage of this important piece of legislation you may do so by sending a letter to Governor Carney asking him to renew his support for SB305 at john.carney@delaware.gov.

Are You Called to Walk Where Jesus Walked?
June 18-28, 2023
Consider joining Christ Church Christiana Hundred parishioners and friends on a trip to the Holy Land. St. George’s Anglican College in Jerusalem is offering a “Footsteps of Jesus, Level II” course in summer 2023. It is not a tour of the Holy Land but a pilgrimage: a time for worship, guided meditation, reflection, and silence at key sites in the life of Christ. Our pilgrimage will be June 18-28, 2023, and reservations are being accepted now at the link below. (Please register through Christ Church directly and not through St. George’s.) The total trip cost is estimated to be $4,500 to $5,000 (round-trip transportation to Newark airport, coach airfare estimated to be $1,400, round-trip transportation to St. George’s College and Tel Aviv airport, and $2,600 for St. George’s tuition, room, and board). Scholarship opportunities may be available through St. George’s College. Reserve your spot below with a $500 deposit per person. More information
