New and creative ideas being sparked!
Can these ideas help your parish?
|
|
The Find a Church: You're Invited campaign, a diocesan-wide marketing effort, has sparked new ideas, action, and enthusiasm across the state. We want to share what we have heard about in the past few weeks, in case it would be helpful for your parish or spark another new idea you might have. (see ...What's Happening... below)
Thus far, approximately 25,000 mailers and hundreds of door hangers have been ordered by parishes across the state — individualized for each. Some churches have already received their orders, some are en route, and some are still being processed.
The printing and shipping is moving quicker than we had planned, so there is still time to process more orders past today's deadline date. If your parish has not had a chance to place an order, please contact Cynde Bimbi, cbimbi@delaware.church or 302.345.9392.

HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN SOME PARISHES:
|
|
New and updated websites: While many are currently updating and sprucing up their sites, at least two parishes are building new websites that will debut prior to the campaign start date of August 22. The communications team helped these two parishes get started by provided training on building and maintaining their new sites. If you would like to consult with the communications team about your site, please contact: Cynde at 302-345-9392 or communications@delaware.church.
Community fairs: One parish is taking advantage of a community fair that attracts approximately 3,000 visitors and will be handing out the campaign mailers along with a bottle of water to fair-goers.
New signage: One parish is working on new permanent signage for their parish.
Technology: Several parishes (large and small) are ramping up their streaming efforts. This includes improving WiFi access, changing carriers to allow for better WiFi in their specific area, purchasing new equipment, and taking advantage of the tech grant offered by the diocese. If you have questions or need guidance with your streaming and tech needs, contact Cynde at 302-345-9392.
|
|
Phone messages: Some parishes do not always have a person available to answer the phone during the week. For this reason, one parish has reported that they will revitalize their message so it is welcoming, friendly, inviting, provides service times, and directs them to the website.
Additional marketing plan during campaign: In addition to ordering 7,000 campaign mailers, five of the beach churches have banned together to further their marketing efforts using media that is specific to their area. Following the diocesan website strategy of sending visitors to a web page where all parishes are listed with links to their site, these churches have created a website that will do the same for each of the five churches. If a group of churches in your area would like to do the same, contact communications@delaware.church or call Cynde at 302-345-9392. Check out the Delaware beaches site: delawarebeaches.church.
Facebook: Twelve parishes have joined the diocesan Facebook program — increasing their traffic and reach. If you have missed the information for this program or would like to learn more please contact communications@delaware.church.

Racial Reconciliation
“Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?”

From the 80th General Convention
Successful Racial Justice, Healing and
Reconciliation-related Legislation
Race-related resolutions poured into the General Convention from dioceses, committees, task forces, and other bodies. We’ve curated this list of resolutions passed and concurred by both houses of General Convention. Items in bold seemed to spark the most conversation or had significant funding implications. Please note: the full budget approved by Convention did not necessarily include funding for all the resolutions that passed.

Today in Christian history

On this date in 1969, Buzz Aldrin, a Presbyterian elder, took communion during the Apollo 11 landing. This has since become shrouded in mystery, but the rite itself was relatively simple. The astronaut was also an elder at Webster Presbyterian Church, and before he headed into space in 1969, he got special permission to take bread and wine with him to space and give himself communion. Read Archbishop Justin's Loyal Address to Her Majesty The Queen
at General Synod
"I’m sure that our Loyal Address today is something that will be sincerely and deeply felt. It is because in Her Majesty we have found someone who carries lightly her own importance, a genuine humility is there while knowing fully what her role is in church and state. Until the last opening of Synod during a brief break in the Covid pandemic, she had opened the Synod herself, in person on every occasion since it started in 1970 ...
And on each occasion she has left us with a memory and a thought of someone whose personal Christian faith is undoubted, whose conviction as to the role and place of the Church of England in the realm is beyond question." Read full address here
