August “Gus” Koenig, 71, of Clayton, Delaware, passed away on July 14, 2023. Gus is the husband of Nancy Koenig, election chairperson for the diocesan annual convention and the parish administrator of Saint Anne's Church, Middletown. We pray for Nancy and her family during this time of sorrow.
A memorial service in his honor will be held at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church, 15 E. Green Street, Middletown, Delaware, on Friday, July 28 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the church hall.

Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

On this date in 1833, having abolished the slave trade in 1807, Britain's House of Commons banned slavery itself.
