Feast of St. John Bosco | January 31

O glorious Saint John Bosco, who in order to lead young people to the feet of the divine Master and to mold them in the light of faith and Christian morality didst heroically sacrifice thyself to the very end of thy life and didst set up a proper religious Institute destined to endure and to bring to the farthest boundaries of the earth thy glorious work, obtain also for us from Our Lord a holy love for young people who are exposed to so many seductions in order that we may generously spend ourselves in supporting them against the snares of the devil, in keeping them safe from the dangers of the world, and in guiding them, pure and holy, in the path that leads to God.

Message from Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, MSpS

Most Rev. Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS

As Christians, we gather each Sunday because it is the day when God’s eternity breaks into our time. Sunday is not only the end and the beginning of our week, but also its heart and fullness. In the Eucharist, we encounter the living Jesus — the Alpha and the Omega — who makes Himself present among us. Through Him, the Kingdom of God is here, and we are called to live as its citizens. The gifts we bring — diverse though they may be — must serve the unity and vitality of this body. When one member suffers, all suffer. When one rejoices, all rejoice. We are called to make of our week — every week — the opportunity for the Lord Jesus — who breaks into our lives every Sunday — present to everyone. As we reflect on the life and mission of Jesus, we must ask ourselves: What is our role in His project of salvation? Jesus calls us to be a people of encounter — encountering Him in prayer and in the faces of the poor, the marginalized, and those yearning for their dignity to be upheld. Let us embrace this “today” of salvation. May the Spirit of the Lord anoint us to bring good news to the world.

Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope | Visit the St. Anthony Catholic Student Center at UTSA

The Universal Church is now celebrating a Jubilee Year, a time for spiritual renewal and deeper faith. Under Pope Francis' leadership, the Jubilee Year 2025 celebrates the beauty and traditions of the Church. The Archdiocese of San Antonio is excited to celebrate this special occasion with the global Church! Join spiritually by participating either in these archdiocesan celebrations or in those planned in your local community.

This week, we highlight the St. Anthony Catholic Student Center at UTSA, one of our 23 Jubilee pilgrimage sites, the only Catholic student center in the archdiocese, and the only faith center at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Nestled around beautiful trees, the Catholic Student Center (directions) offers space for Mass, reconciliation, adoration, fellowship, and a meditation garden. Fixed behind the altar, visitors can view a life-size San Damiano Cross replica that was hand-painted by former students of UTSA who were inspired and transformed by the Holy Spirit in Campus Ministry.

Although it was not a blizzard we did see some of the white stuff blanket our area, however, it was extremely cold. The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston received more snow than we did here, and we’ll show you what they got in terms of winter precipitation.
