The Holy See | Pope Leo XIV

Pope Leo XIV visits Vatican Radio transmitter which is proposed solar energy site

Pope Leo XIV visited the Vatican’s radio transmitter station in Santa Maria di Galeria, Italy, on June 19 and thanked staff for their dedicated work in communicating the Church’s mission around the world.

During the visit, the Holy Father blessed staff working in the central radio center on the Vatican’s Corpus Christi holiday and reaffirmed the “missionary value” of their work in communication.

Message from Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS

Persecuted Christians around the world face cold prisons, social exile, and even death. Still, they stand firm in prayer and praise. Christ’s rising, God shows He never abandons His own. We hope for that mystery to strengthen you when trials come. In the face of hardship, God fights for us. God will battle every obstacle — injustice, indifference, hatred — and bring you through by His grace. Trust in His power, not in spectacular signs. Pope Leo XIV invites us to live as a missionary Church of mercy. He tells us that the Holy Spirit “breaks down barriers and tears down the walls of indifference and hatred because He ‘teaches us all things’ and ‘reminds us of Jesus’ words’ (cf. Jn 14:26).” Let those words inspire your zeal. Build bridges of dialogue where walls of fear exist. Bring the light of Christ to those who have lost hope. Dear friends, gratitude and solidarity go hand in hand. Stand with persecuted Christians through prayer, witness, and practical support. In humility and trust, walk forward.

Join us for "Six Essential Principals for Cultivating a Catechumenal Culture," an online workshop for parish leaders and teams of Christian Initiation. Whether you’re just beginning your journey in Christian Initiation Ministry or have accompanied seekers for years, this is a time to be renewed, refocused, and reenergized. The archdiocese invites all parish ministers, leaders, and teams involved in Christian Initiation to a special online workshop with Diana Macalintal, nationally recognized speaker and cofounder of Team Initiation.

Together, we’ll explore: (1) the paradigm shifts needed to move from program to conversion-centered parish life; (2) the six principles of a catechumenal culture; and (3) how to accompany seekers with greater confidence, clarity, and joy. This is an opportunity to reflect, grow, and find new energy for one of the Church’s most beautiful ministries. Bring your team to walk this path of formation and mission together.

The archdiocese held a celebration in Spanish and English on July 13 at St. Andrew Church in Pleasanton commemorating the 137th anniversary of the birth of Blessed Anacleto González Flores, a martyr of the religious persecution Mexico experienced in the 1920s and patron saint of the Mexican laity. For his commitment to faith and justice, he was arrested, tortured, and ultimately executed on April 1, 1927. Pope Benedict XVI approved his beatification on Nov. 15, 2005. In 2019, he was named patron saint of the Mexican laity. The celebration included the veneration of the first-class relics of Blessed Anacleto.
